vacay almost over :(
i’m sad that on tuesday, dennis will be back to work. wednesday, he’ll be taking me to the OB though so it’ll be sort of like another day off 😉
last weekend, all we did from friday-sunday was go back and forth to our friends’ camping weekend 🙂 the boys swam all weekend. finally we just let Beau go in with his water wings on his own bc Dennis got sick of getting in and out. we sat nearby to watch and there were always other ppl and bigger kids in too. my babies are water babies! the hydro was out one night bc of a HUGE storm (tornado) nearby that bent hydro towers RIGHT OVER (we went for a drive and had a look) so we went to the drive-in. Bad Teacher SUCKED and Friends with Benefits wasn’t bad (but a LOT like No Strings Attached.) haha even the fog covering the screen during Bad Teacher didn’t improve it.
monday, i think we stayed around home but i really can’t recall.
tuesday, after sawyer’s summer program, we headed off to a nearby aviary/zoo (well, sort of nearby. still about 30 mins or so) for the day. it has a huge play area and little zoo with various animals.
wednesday, we dropped off Sawyer at summer program and then i went with Dennis to watch him lift weights/work out at a trainer friend’s place. now that i think about it, wasn’t he supposed to do that this morning?! hmmm…i hear him in the shower so maybe he does. anyway, after that, we picked up Sawyer and went to lunch (Chinese.) i have no room anymore. Sawyer and i should’ve shared a plate. after that, we hung around at home before going to BestStart to meet up with the lady who did Beau’s speech pathology assessment. she says he has a mild delay. 🙁 we have to work on a few things but it’s nothing huge, from the sound of it. it is hard to hear that there is some sort of "issue" with your child, esp. when you didn’t think there was! oops. guess i don’t know anything!
thursday, we headed off to Storybook Gardens after summer program. that’s a place with storybook characters, fun playgrounds, shows, a splash pad and a few animals. it’s a little cheesy for the price ($25 for 4) but not bad and the boys liked it, esp. the playground (there’s a whole pirate area with big pirate ship play areas.) there were some BRATTY little boys there and their mom was a fool (if your kids behave that way, helicopter them. we helicopter Beau to some extent but not Sawyer but i like to at least be able to see him even i if i do trust him, for pete’s sake) but other than that, not bad.
we headed to Toys R Us where Sawyer got a Lego set and Beau got Luigi car (i know he would’ve liked Mario but it was only Princess Peach and Luigi. he liked Peach too but i knew he’d end up wanting Luigi if we got Peach so i went with Luigi.) i got a little baby gown for the baby. so sweet 🙂 i have a couple left over from Beau but Dennis promised me something and the little outfits i REALLY wanted weren’t available anymore 🙁 i couldn’t even find them on a sales rack or anything.
we had supper out at Boston Pizza and then i headed into the Dollar Store. the girls are only given $150 for the entire summer to fund ALL supplies for the 2 groups (there’s one school age (4, though Sawyer started at 3.5) to 6 or 7 and another in the afternoon for older kids) so i picked up some supplies for them (they were very excited to get them Friday.) i got a few other things as well (for baby and for me) and then we headed home.
friday, we went to dennis’s sister’s house so the kids could swim (Dennis went in for a bit too) and chatted with her and her friend (she had a baby 3 months ago) for a bit. i think Dennis and i watched movies that night when the boys were in bed. or did we go next door to the neighbours’ that night? i can’t remember.
saturday, Sawyer woke up sick (he’d been coughing a bit. again) so we had lunch and then headed off to our doc’s clinic. another throat infection (Strep) and another round of Zithromax (we don’t do amoxicillan for them bc Dennis is allergic, though i think they have had it and are fine. i think Zithromax works better and it’s only given in about 4 day increments.) i hope we don’t have to take Beau in next. we waited at the grocery store while Dennis picked up some things and then went home where my mom met us with another A/C unit. much quieter than the one we had in the living room so that one went in the bedroom and my parents’ went in the living room. we watched movies after the boys were in bed (Unknown and Adjustment Bureau) and then had some adult time together before falling asleep 😉
today is sunday and i have no idea what we’re doing. beach maybe? tomorrow is the last day (it’s a holiday) for vacay 🙁 i will miss Dennis. when the baby comes, he’ll have another week off but i don’t want him to go back now that i have him here. and it’s getting harder and harder for me to walk Sawyer to summer program so having Dennis here to take him has been nice!
i have pictures too but haven’t put them on the computer yet.

You’ve been a busy mama! Too bad vacation is just about over. For me too I guess. Summer ending sucks haha. You should definitely squeeze in a beach day!

Sounds like anise vacation was had by all! I like your use of the word “helicopter” lol. That’s a good way to put it. Bratty kids are a huge pet peeve of mine.

Wow you guys have really made the most of your vacation! It’s nice that your kids really get to experience summer the outdoorsy way. I feel bad for kids who spend their summers in front of the t.v. or at best go to a theme park. Camping and swimming outdoors can’t be beat. What is the hydro? I’m sure i’ve mentioned this before but one of my smartest, kindest students ever went to speech…

I imagine as a parent you’re so used to hearing your child speak that you don’t think twice about their exact pronunciation or speech patterns, especially if it’s a mild difference. I’m always “pro-speech” though, the kids generally love it – i had it briefly as a kid and i remember loving it – kids usually think it’s just “game time” with a nice person.

oh, ryn: I love “spidey senses.” I’m going to have to use that.

ryn: It’s called Dirty Al’s because he is dirty as in nasty haha. The servers wear shirts that say “Liquor Where She Likes It”, “Suck Head, Eat Tail”, that sorta thing haha…

RYN: The mortage on this house has been paid off since the late 80s/early 90s so I assume some time after Trev’s dad and brother died she just didn’t feel like keeping insurance on it or couldn’t afford it :/ Hmm no, for some reason she didn’t even ask to borrow Rob for awhile lol She actually used to like it until she found out it was a gift from Trev’s ex(back when they were like 14) sonow she’s kinda pissed at it. He has a Rob Zombie ‘action figure’ that she thinks is really awesome though. I think docs just give you cortisone cream which I already have…and a steroid shot which I’m not too keen on getting lol So since it’s getting better and better on its own I think I’ll get wait it out.

Ryn: School fees. Honestly, I don’t even know what they go towards any more. They’re usually around $50, but range greatly depending on the grade of the child and school district. Kids here have supply lists. Scissors, markers, crayons, glue, tissues…that kind of stuff! Tuition is only for private or Catholic schools here. 🙂
