who knew? i complained about the high shipping of my e-bay items and got the refund i asked for. mind you, they offered only $5 at first. riiiiiiight. you overcharged me $21.18 and are going to refund $5? no thanks. after a few e-mails, they finally asked me what i preferred and refunded me $18.95 in the end. i should’ve noticed all the "slow, high priced" shipping comments on their ratings paged when i checked it out. duh. at least, for once, writing a letter worked!! they’re probably afraid someone is going to report them to e-bay. they’re behaving very unethically.

anyway, mom and i went shopping yesterday. we checked out a children’s store where i got a diaper for sawyer and we hit the liquidation world and the dollar store. i got some great stamps, a max and ruby puzzle for sawyer, a nice cake stand for dennis’s mom’s bday, and a few other things. a pretty good day. my mom brought over a blue’s clues sleeping bag for sawyer. i unzipped it & wrapped the bottom part under his mattress and he loves it. it’s a great match for his blue’s clues sheets. he cuddled right up under it for naptime, happy as could be.

dennis’s grandma had a stroke but seems to be doing well. he visited her the other day and brought her a card i made for her. he said he knew she liked it b/c she gave him a big hug. we also know she’s fine b/c she managed to put in a request for another grandchild and give dennis a guilt trip for not visiting her all in the hour he was there.

other than that, sawyer and i picked up some movies ("annie", "thomas etc", and "13 going on 30") and my book club book from the library today. we’re reading Joan Barfoot’s "Critical Injuries"; i have a feeling it’s another one i won’t enjoy. but we’ll see. sawyer ran around the library and coloured. he also talked to one of the ladies who’s in there quite a bit (she’s in my book club too) for  a bit. the librarian is always impressed with his vocabulary. one of the first things he said to her, after "hi", was "look! a car!" it was a bus, but still…he also called the crayons "cay-on", a word i didn’t even realize he used! he usually used "colouring" but not "crayon."

he’s amazing. i have "child" fever. you know how mommies get "baby fever"? i get "child fever" b/c i am not particularly attached to the newborn phase but i love the learning phase we’re in now. i don’t want a kid to come out sawyer’s size (ouch) but it’d be great if they got to this age sooner.

*ETA: crazily enough, i was putting on my clothes today after my shower, and i looked in the mirror (the dresser is right next to the mirror), "flexed" my abs…and there were abs there!!! no one would accuse me of being ripped or maybe even in great shape but i’m still *shocked* granted, i did all kinds of ab work last night but man, it feels good to see results for hard work.

i know what you mean about child fever 🙂 I love how tiny and precious newborns are but I don’t like that phase particularly… no sleep and lots of crying, no thanks 🙂 but from 6 months on they are great!

October 5, 2007

Aw I love the newborn stage personally, just not the waking up every bloody minute! lol

You hit the nail on the head! Child fever. I’ve never thought of it that way before. I wasn’t a huge fan of the infant stage either. Now is so much more fun. Watching them learn and grow with something new every day is the best.

as much as I loved Dulcie being a baby I am eagerly looking forward to her being more in Eva’s stage of life…where she can walk & talk & tell me what she wants instead of just crying.

That is good you thought the So, this bird walks into a store entery was hillarious. It’s ok you can’t help me out with how billing works when seeing a doctor.

my last few ebay experiences were negative ones. I’m glad you were able to sort yours out. I have baby, child, and every phase approaching adulthood fever. It’s probably good that kids have to develop in a natural order though because it would be hard to start out with the teenage years and then approach infancy!

ryn it’s $750 for 15 days. not for one week. I can’t cut my price any lower for her. Honestly, if I do I’m underselling myself. As Piskettios mentioned I’m only making $3/hr being there. And other services charge $60/night for 8 hours (overnight that’s it) for 2 cats. The rest is an additional per-visit rate. I’m charging $50/per 24 hours (all inclusive) for 8 cats. I think that’s MORE than fair. when I’m not there tim will be and there will only be a few hours a day when we both aren’t there (in order to care for our own pets.)

Told ya you were doing good. I really wish I could work out with you because you don’t quit. You’re a hard workin’ mommy! Haha….yay for Sawyer learning new words…that’s awesome!! Have a good weekend and I hope Dennis’ grandma recovers and gets her wish! 😉

RYN: I have no clue, but if you figure it out let me know. Apparently I have done some horrible things to people I don’t even know lol Yeah, we have to call a plumber so they can crawl under the house and take the pipes apart lol Oops! Ain’t that the truth! Not only will she not sit still, but it always ends the same way. I get out the camera and she’s all happy and wants her pic taken, takea few pics and then she decides she wants the camera. I won’t give it to her and she ends up crying. EVERYTIME! Sometimes it’s just not worth it. Yay for abs! Go you 😉

oh, it so wasn’t even like that. She’s 25, with a master’s, living on her own, teaching, looking to settle down. not that I’m not looking to settle down but I live with my parents, have neither (any) money nor (much) time to spend on her, and it’s gonna be that way for a while. Plus, giving up, going home and drinking was the plan that involved me drinking 😛

also, it took all the professionalism I had not to sneak a glance at her bazongas as she stumbled through getting out of bed and over to the bathroom.

Just a random noter! Your little one is just precious! I hope your husband’s grandmama is doing better too. I will keep her in my prayers! Have a happy and blessed day and enjoy every single second of your little one because they grow up entirely TOO fast! =)

RYN: There’s a place in Sacramento, CA that makes a gourmet Hawaiian-style pizza with ham, pineapple and crushed macadamia nuts. I was hesitant to try it, but OMG!!! It is soooooo good!

October 8, 2007

Okay…so I read something wrong, or more likely a few somethings….and somehow picked out of your entry that you were reading Sawyer a book about critical injuries! LOL I did go back and read it again but I must admit I was wondering if you were nuts 🙂 kristen

October 8, 2007

And…go you with your abs! I don’t think I even HAVE abs LOL kristen again

It’s ok you agree with what my mom said about paying for things. I guess sometimes it’s good to help pay for things where one lives. I do agree if my bf broke something b/c he has a bad temper, he should pay for it. You said if things need to be fixed for general maintenance reasons, it’s right to help him pay for them. How much do you feel I should help pay for things related to maintenance? Should it be half the cost or less than half the cost. Luckily my bf didn’t ask me to help pay for the hot water tank and repair and the attic fan.

Did ebay give you the shipping refund amount back? Who is probably afraid someone is going to report them to e-bay? Who was behaving very unethically? What do you mean by unethically? What is a ruby puzzle? I hope dennis’s grandma gets over the stroke. How long has she had the stroke for?

How can a seller on ebay give someone a refund if you pay for the item(s) through Pay Pal? Who decides how much the shipping cost to ship item(s) to a person should be if they have not gone to the post office to see what it would cost for the person who won the bid? What kind of TV show is Max and Ruby? Is that a cartoon and if so what channel is that show on.

October 11, 2007

i’m glad they refunded u – dumb jerks lol sorry to hear about dennis’s grandma yay for abs! 😀
