Something’s Happening Here
There’s something happening here
What it is ain’t exactly clear…
I think it’s time we stop, children, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going down
I just got back from a wonderful vacation in Hawaii. Doug and I spent eight glorious days on two islands, enjoying the weather and the atmosphere. We loved the island of Hawai–the Big Island. We stayed in Kona. Kona had such a delightful feeling of ohana–family. Being a small community, they could be more laid back and connected to us tourists. The sunrises there were incredible. Doug played on the volcanoes and I played at the lu-au 🙂 We took a tour of the whole island (including the volcanoes, but Doug wanted to be up close and personal with them earlier) and really loved the sights and sounds and the people.
We also went to O’hau and stayed in Waikiki. The feel there was so different, less ohana, more normal business. Basically Waikiki is a big city with a beach. But what a beach! Whoa! Surf City! And it IS Hawaii 🙂 The weather was better in Waikiki because there was no humidity. The two large mountains on the Big Island block the ocean breeze, so there is pretty high humidity. And we enjoyed the travel and tours and food. And the sunsets. Gorgeous sunsets on Waikiki.
We flew home Tuesday night and low-and-behold, my luggage was not there. Turns out it didn’t want to stay on the island. It was stolen. The Port of Portland has on video the thieves taking my bag. This past week and a half have been filled with police reports, insurance claims, banking difficulties (I inadvertently left my check book in my suitcase and had to open a whole new account), as well as trying to get on with life.
They did catch one of the thieves trying to cash two of my checks. She is now in jail, pending prosecution. YippeeSkippee! Nothing else recovered. So with very little clothes, I have been seeking new knickers and other clothes so I don’t have to wash clothes every day just to get along. Oh yeah. My camera was in the bag. It is a rather nice, rather expensive camera that takes up too much space. I had it in the suitcase because…well I wasn’t going to take any more pictures.
On top of this hassle, I returned home to find that the biopsy the doctor took before we left tested positive with malignant or metastatic melanoma. Yeah, that is the bad one. Fortunately the spot we found was not deep and he doesn’t believe it has yet started to spread. But that was another thing I had to wrap my head around. Oh yeah and the fibromyalgia is flaring.
And that is what I am writing about. Wrapping things around my head. I am the kind of person who just deals with things. Challenge? Yeah I will just deal with it. I am not a worrier, nor do I whine often (but when I do, it is huge!). But for some reason I have been simply overwhelmed sine I got home. Exhaustedly overwhelmed. I am making mistakes, lots of mistakes. I have the dropsys. Everything I touch ends up on the floor either broken or bouncing. I sit at the computer all day, changing all those online bills and direct deposits and monthly donations. Exhausting and none of those websites are user friendly if you need to update things. I have been trashing things that shouldn’t be trashed, shredding things that shouldn’t be shredded, trying to act normal and not meeting the criteria.
I know things will improve as life gets back to normal. But right now I am close to losing it and am not sure why this time I am not handling it well. So there. If you would, send me some positive energy and good juju. That will help heaps.
peace~~
Update…just found out the bank rejected the monthly deposit from my retirement account. The retirement account office says they can’t do anything about it this month. Yeah, one more thing and I sit here crying. Poor me.
positive energy, lots of juju (not sure what that is 🙂 and tons of love!!!!!!!!!! {{{{{{Soph}}}}}}}}}

Hawaii is a wonderful place. I visited the same two islands as you did. I found Hilo a wonderful place filled with history. Oahu is one giant tourist industry, but enjoyable nonetheless. You certainly came home to a bad situation, but things will get better. Be well, friend.
