Social Security & Me

I applied for Social Security yesterday.  I think this means I am truly retired now 🙂  Some people said that they felt old when they applied.  I don’t feel old.  I’m excited!

I learned my social security number fairly young.  An old movie, The Snake Pit, had made an impression on me.  The film tells the story of a woman (Olivia de Havilland) who finds herself in an insane asylum and cannot remember how she got there.  I don’t remember much about this movie except at one point she had to prove she wasn’t insane and she did it by reciting her social security number.  I learned mine immediately so, should I ever find myself in the same position, I could prove my sanity.

So far, sanity is in tact…social security number is still memorized…
peace~~

Trying to get my mom to medically retire. She’s still putting up a fight but can’t go back to work. She’s already getting widow’s benefits and they told her she can’t get more than one benefit at a time..pfft. Glad I got food assistance. Have a good weekend 😉

ryn: I do bring out the sparkly people, don’t I? 😀 I keep so many numbers in my head, and I can recite 30 of them without really trying, yet I cannot remember peoples’ names.

I remember the movie. Happy Rest and Relaxation Day!

I’m like Gattaca…. too many numbers in my head. I can still recite customer credit card numbers from my store days. Scary.

###-##-#### I’ve known mine since my teen years. RYN: If I can get to Oregon four times, then you can get to Maine. Buy or rent an RV, grab hubby by the hand and say, “C’mon, we’re heading east!” Hawaii, well that’s another thing and something that should not be missed. So what’s the third state you’re missing? Be well.

Some people are sane when they call Social Security but by the time they get off the phone, not so much. Maybe you applied online. 🙂

RYN: N.Dakota. Capitol, Bismarck, is right on the Missouri River, but there are many interesting places along that river. The highlight of the state is Theodore Roosevelt National Park, which is divided into two units. Both equally beautiful. It’s where I first saw bison in a wild state and one even chased me back into my vehicle. The two sections are located in an area surrounded by Federal lands. Do not miss this part of the state. The South Unit is right off I-94 and the North Unit is about 100 miles north on US 85. If you have an interest in American Indians, there are several reservations in ND and perhaps you could catch a PowWow. Aside from that there is a lot of grass and mostly beige in summer. Be well.
