I’ll Just Pretend

Today is July 19.  It is 60 degrees outside and pouring rain.  I am still waiting for summer to arrive to Portland, Oregon.  I know!  The calendar says it is July but we just haven’t felt it yet this year.  Plenty of rain, overcast, beautiful sunny days…all without much heat whatsoever.   We have an above-ground pool that hasn’t been played in yet.  We don’t even have the fans up from the basement yet.  Strange season.

So I decided I was just going to pretend it is summer!  I have kept all the windows open (because they should be open!  It’s summer dammit!) and have been wearing summer clothes.  Of course I have to wear socks to bed at night…those windows, you know…  But now I am going to look out the windows and think, "Wow a beautiful summer rain!  We needed that to clean the air!"
