Bring on the D!
This entry is purely for the purpose of stalling the two papers I need to write today. Also, an update on our air quality since I know everyone was on pins and needles over that one. Ha!
Well, whatever the measurement is for air quality (Zac spouts it off with fluency while it all sounds Latin to me) we went from 120 around Monday, down to 64 on Friday. Today it is at 2! Our visibility is back, the air doesn’t stink, and when the rain clouds part there are moments of sunshine and blue sky. It’s also a lovely 45 degrees right now after weeks of single digits and teens. I could easily walk the dogs in shorts and a T-shirt right now.
What’s remarkable about all of this is the difference it makes in my general well being. I woke up early and had an excursion with Zac to find a wireless card for my computer. We rearranged the rooms the other day turning the computer room into the nursery and the den area downstairs into the office. Since then I’ve been without internet on my primary PC as we had to leave the router upstairs and I was previously direct wired into it. Anyway…excursion over I came home and fell into a cleaning frenzy.
I didn’t accomplish as much as I’d have liked but the bathroom is shiny and the kitchen is better organized. My point being, I’ve spent the last few weeks in a kind of slump. I had zero desire to improve my general environment at all whatsoever. But one day of improved weather and I’m ready to spring clean the whole house and take the dogs for a run. No more sitting balled up under a blanket watching endless hours of tv.
I hope one day we can move to an area with a shorter winter season. I just don’t do well mentally when it’s cold and overcast. My demeanor starts to reflect my environment.
It isn’t even a great day here. It’s not like beautiful and sunny. It’s drizzling rain and it looks nasty out where all the snow is melting. But there are moments of sunlight and that makes all the difference. Whenever it pops out from behind the clouds I just want to stand in my open doorway and soak it in. Bring on the Vitamin D!
Yay!
