Whirlwind March

So much in the month of March besides my birthday.  To hit the highlights, most of my legal issue is settled.  I came out with a nice ending to 3 years of hell and think that it is time to move on.  Some times you just have to be content with what you are given.  For this I am greatful and feel really relieved.

On the work front, we are now in fact finder for our current contract negotiations.  The city refused to even consider a raise even tho all other non union employees were given a raise last year.  We are also waiting to hear about arbitration hearing of employee that was terminated for not doing her job.  If she wins she will be awarded her job back plus back pay.  I feel that this issue could go either way.  Unfortuneatly she really is not capable of doing the stress part of making quick decisions anymore and safety is my main concern.  But I did all that I can to represent her as a good union rep would do.  It is now out of my hands.

And the best part of the month was my spur of the moment trip to Florida.  I found a reasonable flight and only used two holidays to make a seven day trip.  I was able to sneak it in on my long weekend and before my other coworker ended her employment with our department.  So it was a good relaxing trip and the weather was beautiful.  Only rain on my last day, so no complaints there.  Hopefully I can go again when we hire someone and we get them trained.  That remains to be seen.

I continue to look more to the positive side of life as it goes.  I spoke to my brother before I left and we talked about the ugly email that I recieved from my young niece.  He said he heard about it and it made him angry.  He asked me to continue to get the estate settled on behalf of the farm and to try and keep everything in my name as he and his wife are not getting on so good at the moment.  This is another legal matter that has to be settled in the coming months.

My last and only sad part is that a friend was diagnosed with cancer in multiple areas of his body and will be starting treatments soon.  I am devastated about this but will continue to trust in the ultimate healer and pray for a good outcome.  I would like to ask you all to say a prayer for this friend and his family as they will be going thru many dark days in the future.  Prayer is the best medicine and the best help that we can offer.

As for me, I just finished three 12 hour shifts and am getting ready to hit the sack.  Tomorrow is my mom’s birthday and I am taking her out for dinner to the place of her chosing.  She just never seems to have a place that she wants to go.  This will leave me to make the choice and if that’s the case, I’m thinking the Texas Roadhouse,  I love the rolls and butter, so maybe I will get to chose.  So here’s to wishing you all a happy and blessed Saturday.  Be well my friends and God bless!

Glad you talked to your brother and he is supportive of all that is transpiring in the settling of the estate. The niece sounds a little in the dark and jumped to conclusions. Hopefully she will leave you alone now. Take care and God Bless

Texas Roadhouse is a great choice! Yes, I’ll be praying for your friend. **HUGS** I’m so sorry. I hate cancer. The rainy weather hasn’t been much fun, but we did need it. Happy belated birthday! RYN: Thanks. Wish you’d come to our coast! 🙂
