Christmas Day 2008

As I sit here at work finishing my 16 hour day, I hope each and everyone of you have had a Merry Christmas.  Yesterday morning being Christmas eve day, I awoke with a sinus headache, so I gladly cancelled my first doctors appointment with the workers comp doc.  So I decided to go back to sleep for awhile and then get up and go see my head doctor.  Well as it turns out, my phone rang at about 8:30 and I recognized the phone number as the outgoing number for the local hospital.  Well my answering machine picked up before I could get to the phone and I heard my mothers voice.  As I grabbed the phone, I asked her what was going on.  She informed me that she had been at the hospital all night with her husband.  It seems that he started out the back door of their mobile home and slipped on the icy steps and fell striking his hip on a step and breaking it.  He would not allow her to call anyone at the time and she wanted to tell me that we were not going to be able to have lunch.

So I told her that after my doctors visit I would come up to the hospital and see what was going on.  She said they were waiting for the ortho surgeon to come in and do the surgery to repair the hip.  She also wanted me to contact the son of her husband and let him know what had happened.  She did not know his phone number and could only tell me where he lived.  I told her I would stop by the police department and see if I could located a number for his son.  So we all spent the rest of the day at the hospital.  All the surgery went well.   After husband was depostited in his room mom decided she needed to go home.

Well when she got home, she asked me if I would go with her while she practiced driving his truck.  He talked her into selling her car and told her that he would keep driving her around.  But now she has no choice but to drive the truck or stay home.  She scared me a couple of times until she finally got the hang of things.  I really did feel sorry for her cause before she married him, she would have never let anyone push her around.  Seems to me like he has almost broken her spririt.  He doesn’t like anyone and wants no one around her or them.  So therefore they are left alone.  I am lost as to what to do, cause if I do anything he will take it out on her and then she is in the middle.  Oh well, I will do what I can until things change.

Okay, I am gonna quit for now.  I gotta get ready and go home so that I can come back in the morning.  Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.  I’m gonna try again next year.
