A New Christmas Memory
Merry Christmas everyone. Today I am spending 8 wonderful hours working dispatch, and praying that the phone doesn’t ring. Not unless someone just wants to wish us a merry day. After work I am going to my brothers house to watch the kids open gifts and have dinner. I cheated again this year and am just giving the kids money. They can then get whatever they want. I have worked so much in last few weeks that I didn’t have time to shop anyhow. So I hope everyone will be happy.
Last night, as the tradition has been for as long as I can remember, I spent Christmas eve with my mom. We always have some sort of dinner or snacks and exchange whatever we chose for gifts. This year I got mom the Avon perfume that she wanted and a box of Ester Price candy. She was happy. I also made my hot taco bean dip for dinner. We had fiesta Navidad. We then took a ride up to a drive thru light display in Middletown. I had been there several years ago and you can go thru for just a donation. Mom had never been there. She was just tickled at all the lights. I turned down the radio in the car so I could hear her comments. As we were coming to the end, she made a comment that it was over, so I took a big left turn and we rode thru again. She saw things the second time that she missed the first time. When we finished the second trip, she told me how beautiful it was and how much she enjoyed it. Made my night.
So thankful that we have been given a second chance to be mother and daughter. I know there are days that I get a little impatient with her ramblings, but nights like last night remind me how much I missed being able to spend time with her in the past. And I am reminded that after what the year has brought to us, that tomorrow is never promised. So I was given the best gift of all once again. No need for fancy gifts or expensive presents, we are richest for the love that we share. Thank you God for all that you have given us.
I have been involved is a few random acts of kindness again this season and it just brings me such happiness to know that someone will have a good experience that they were not expecting. So much fun.
Well the weather is cold and I hate cold weather. I have to work one more day, and then will be off until January 1. Hoping to finish up my kitchen painting and refinishing my counter tops. Then all that will be left will be the bead board and the new woodwork. But I will have to have someone help me with that. Woodwork is not my specialty. Wish I was better with a saw than I really am. But I look forward to getting that project finished.
Other than that, not much going on. I do hope everyone has a blessed Christmas. I am thankful for those that are serving our country and can’t be with their families and loved ones. I have a couple of friends who have lost family members this holiday season and my heart hurts for them. Gods blessings to everone.
WONDERFUL memories you and your mom made last night. Purchased gifts fade fast while memories sustain us time and time again. Merry Christmas!

Isn’t it fun to do little fun surprises for people? Your Feliz Navidad celebration sounded fun. Our trip out to see lights was a huge disappointment. RYN: I’ve dropped off on the blogging because of time issues. Will try to get back to it. That dairy farm is partly owned by one of my cousins. 🙂

RYN: Thanks. BIL died peacefully and we are grateful for that. It’s been a week.
