Once again…

We are discussing going back to Fayetteville. Of course, we can’t go anywhere until after July, when Jake’s probationary period is over.

We like Charlotte….but we haven’t exactly met anyone that’s…like us. I’m not saying this to offend anyone, but it seems that everyone we meet is either an immigrant  (illegal) or a gangster sort of person (obviously, Jake meets more people in these categories than I do), or they’re snooty and/or rich people. Even the few mommies I’ve met so far…while they weren’t snooty by any means, I got the distinct impression that they were, at the very least, somewhat wealthier than us.

We’d have to move to another county to even be able to think about affording a house. Mecklenburg County property taxes are outrageous, and the average price of a home around here (in a decent neighborhood, anyway) is upwards of $200,000. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system is a crock. BUT, moving to another county means a longer drive to and from work for Jake, especially if he were ever moved to another division, or if he made detective like he wants to do eventually.

Not to mention, JR is moving through the Fayetteville Police application process, and Jake would LOVE to be a cop with his brother.

And honestly? We both kind of miss Fayetteville. We even miss military people.

Just an idea we’re kicking around again. But Jake seems a little more serious about it this time.
