Third Day – 03/27
Today we woke up at 11:00. We were both a little worn out from the past couple of days, I think, so sleeping in a little later was nice.
We decided to walk down to the New York City Public Library first. Yes, I’m such a nerd that I had to see the library. On the way, we came across the HBO store, so we went in. Stan bought a shirt that says “SUITS SUCK” from the show Entourage, and I bought a three-piece travel bag set for jewelry, cosmetics, and lingerie with the Sex and the City logo on them (this show is my new guilty pleasure). Then we continued on our way to the library. We went in, and the place is so huge that I couldn’t figure out where to go. We finally found a room full of books, and they were mostly research books, but I didn’t care. The place smelled wonderful. A mixture of old and new paper, and it was so quiet. It was heaven. I took some pictures, and then we decided to head to lunch.
We took the subway down near The London Hotel. We had lunch at Maze, one of Gordon Ramsey’s restaurants, which is in the London. Oh. My. GOD. Everything was sooooo delicious. I had the three-course lunch, while Stan only got the two-course. The portions were smaller, but we were still full by the end of the meal. For starters, I had the tortellini with braised short rib filling, and Stan had the lobster bisque. They also brought us some of the most yummy bread. For our main courses, I had the Amish chicken while Stan had the ocean trout. Soooo good. I tried some of his trout, and found that I liked it. Then, I had dessert, which was lemon quark cheesecake with some strawberry filling, and pistachio ice cream. I’ve never had pistachio ice cream before, but I like it a LOT. The cheesecake was so good, too. It was so light and fluffy and just mmmmm! Then they brought a little dish of peanut brittle and these cocoa-dusted chocolate-caramel balls… they sorta looked like truffles. Yum! We both used the bathroom, which is probably the coolest bathroom I’ve ever seen. Instead of a women’s and men’s rooms, they had a wall of individual rooms that were unisex. The doors were frosted glass, and everything was very sleek and elegant. I wish I had taken a picture, but I thought that would be kind of weird haha.
After lunch, we walked down to St. Patrick’s cathedral. We both lit candles for our fathers, and then we walked around and looked at everything. It’s a gorgeous church, and I took a few pictures but was mostly too awed to really take pictures of everything.
Then we strolled down 5th Avenue. I had to pee again, so we ran into the Gap to use the bathroom. They had a fun wall where they made the United States out of different jeans, so I took a picture of that. Then we continued down 5th Ave. We went into the Disney store, which seems sorta funny when we live in Orlando, but they had cool NY Disney stuff. We bought fun things for Mack, and a couple things for Amy as well. Stan bought a couple souvenirs for himself, too. Then we made our way down to Trump Tower. We’re big fans of Donald Trump. Trump Tower is open to the public, and we went in and saw they had Trump Bar, Trump Café, and Trump Ice Cream Parlor. I decided I had to have some Trump ice cream, so I got a cone of cookies and cream. Stan bought a couple Trump souvenirs, and we sat down to people watch and wondered if we’d see The Donald. No such luck 🙁
After that, we went down to Tiffany and Co. Oh my Lord, 6 floors of Tiffany stuff. I was in heaven. I ended up buying my mom this pretty crystal box that had “Mom” engraved on it. A little expensive, but she’s well worth it. Then we went down to the sterling silver floor, where I decided to buy this cool necklace. It’s a Return to Tiffany heart-shaped tag on white bone china, with the writing in black, and it’s on a black cord. But before I could pay the woman, Stan handed her his card!! 😀 This man spoils me to no end… and I love it haha. After that, we went down to the diamond floor (yes, that’s what they call it) and looked at all the pretty engagement rings and other diamond jewelry. I tried on a couple fun rings, one worth $28,000 and a 2.5 carat marquis diamond worth around $73,000. I also asked to see the largest marquis ring they had, which was over 5 carats, but while the nice man brough it out, he wouldn’t let me touch it because it cost almost $600,000!! *dies* But it sure was gorgeous.
At this point, we decided to head back to the hotel to drop off our stuff before the game. Once we did that, we walked over to Madison Square Garden for the Knicks game. MSG is huge (just like everything in this city, haha), and so neat. The Knicks played the New Orleans Hornets, and I’m happy to report that they won!! 103-93. YAY!!
After that, we came back to the hotel. Gonna go to bed soon, as we want to get up a little earlier tomorrow. However, first some reading!
(Pictures coming soon)
That’s cool that y’all went to a Knicks game! Y’all really lived it up in NYC!! Geez, I must go there now to see Tiffany & Co. and all of it!!!
