Getting Caught Up

Goodness, I haven’t updated in awhile. And I was off to such a good start, too! Shame on me. Lots to update on, but I’m sure I’ll forget half of it LOL

Stan’s mom is doing much better. She’s moving around a lot better, and can even be left alone for a few hours at a time. She’s really getting the hang of her walker, and her strength comes back more and more each day. She’s still not eating as much as she should, but she’s eating more than she used to. Part of it is the elixir she takes to increase her appetite, and part of it is that the family has taken a different approach to feeding her. Instead of asking her what she feels like, they just make he something and watch her eat it. This seems to be working better. We’re still not sure if she will continue to live with Chris and Tim once she heals. She told Stan that living by herself is no fun, but when he suggested she just stay there, she didn’t seem thrilled. Perhaps she wants to come live with us, but I don’t think she’d ever admit it without prompting. We’ll see how it goes.

Staying on the topic of health issues, I went to see my doctor on Friday about my ankle. It’s healing, but sometimes it still gets a little sore, and there’s a bump that felt sorta like a bone to me, so I went to get it checked out. They took X-rays, and the doctor said they’re a little dark and she’s going to have radiologist look at them, but when she felt around my ankle, she said everything felt solid. She said I most likely have a hematoma (basically a bunch of blood pooling in one area) that might be starting to calcify, and that’s probably what I’m feeling. She told me to put a heating pad on it every day and massage the bump to help break it all up. The faint bruising and soreness I still have are probably just a deep bone bruise, and that can take months to go away completely.

I also made an appointment with my gynocologist for Tuesday the 17th to talk about my cycle. It’s not normal. I got a period in early December, and I thought maybe things were back on track, but there’s been nothing since then. And no, sadly, I’m not pregnant. I took a test in January, and it said I wasn’t, and the doctor took one on Friday before having my leg X-rayed. So we’ve gotta figure out what’s going on there. I don’t know if it’ll just be a talking appointment or if I’ll actually have tests done, but I’ll let you know.

On the 31st of January, Stan and I went to Courtney and Frank’s housewarming party. I wasn’t able to get any pictures, sadly, but it was nice to see them again, as well as Kaleigh and Josh. Kale, Josh, Stan and I just hung out in the living room mostly, and Courtney came by to chat periodically. She had to visit everyone, of course. We could have made it easier on her, probably, by joining one of the big groups, but they were all a little loud for our taste. We had a great time though, and their house is beautiful. It wasn’t a dump when they bought it, but you can tell they’ve worked hard to make it their own. The only thing left really is the kitchen, but they said they’ll tackle that later. I’m so happy for them!

My mom and I have a shopping date planned for the 20th. She said she wants to take me shopping and buy me something for NY, because she wants something from her to be with me (awwww). So she’s taking the day off, and we’ll go shopping and have lunch. I’m looking forward to it. I haven’t had a mom & daughter day with her in a long time.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. I have to work that day, but it’s only 9-1. With New York coming up (so fast too!), Stan and I decided not to go crazy for Valentine’s Day this year. He actually doesn’t even like the holiday, but we celebrate it because I love it, and he loves me haha. So this year, small gifts are in order, and possibly a dinner, but not on Valentine’s night. More likely Friday or Sunday night, and even that’s a maybe. I told him I’d just be happy with a card and a nice evening alone with him, preferably spent in bed 😉

That’s really about it, I guess. Other than sharing some texting love with my Sarah-Bear and in-person love with Amy (ooh, that sounds scandalous lol), I think I hit the highlights. It’s time I got back to work anyway 🙂

HI!! *waves madly at you* Just a quickie cause I gotta run to the store… If you’re having irregular periods you CAN’T get pregnant. Talk to your doc about it when you see her. LOVE YOU LOTS!

Glad you updated, finally. 😉 Glad Stan’s mom is doing better and your ankle, too! I hope things get worked out with the period situation (how frustrating!). Have a good Valentine’s Day with the hubby. 🙂

RYN: Thanks for the note. I totally thought of that (him and the revenge issue) so I’m definitely going to take it really slowly. Thanks for lookin’ out for me, lady! <3

RYN: Even though Mum and I have both danced in our lifetimes, she’s always been better at bellydance and tap (she was quite good before I was born, I hear!). I’m not very flexible in the hips, but I sure can try! The costume is in shades of black and silver, and can’t wait to wear it tomorrow. 🙂

Sorry to hear about your irregular periods, I remember having similar problems when starting/finishing hormone treatments last year (to do with the endometriosis). It’s frustrating, because all you want is to get your period to move onto the next cycle! (We’re trying for a baby too, so I wish you both the best of luck and that your cycles get sorted out soon!)
