Meh

So I never wanted to settle when it came to my short film. I wanted and expect the best. It looks like I’m going to have to bite the bullet though and just settle this time. I’ll chalk it up to a learning experience. After reviewing the footage I shot the other day I was hard pressed to find anything that I could actually use. I was a little depressed but I figured I would start hacking it up and see if there was any redeeming value in there at all. I managed to piece the scene together in a rough cut. I still need to add transitions and fix the brightness and such, but at least it tells the story. True there are a few shots that were ruined (like a point of view shot that ended up catching the guy who was supposed to be the person whose eyes we were looking through standing in the kitchen) that I needed, but I think it will fly. It won’t be great, but it will fly. After I film the rest of it after what I’ve learned and I edit it together, if the final scene (the one already shot) does not fit I will shoot it again, but I would rather not. I’d rather not have to try and get another scene out of the actress that we used. She was not the brightest bulb in the box and she did not take direction well. We’ll see how it all pans out.

I still think you’re doing a really great job with it even if it’s not exactly what you imagined in your mind.I’m proud of you baby for working with it and through it. If the last scene doesn’t fit with the rest, it’ll be smoother to shoot, I imagine so less annoying since she won’t have to be in the same room with us for so long.Love,

It’s frustrating when things don’t come together as smoothly as one thinks they ought to. Good for you for following it through despite that.

RYN: I like the Quantum Leap analogy.

I once heard that a project (whether film, novel or whatever) is never “finished”, there just comes a point where you have to stop working on it.

RYN: Heh. Thanks. Hopefully the Kermit voice is only when you want it to be, otherwise you have my condolences. ‘:)

The spinoff was just that, a rumor. It was supposed to center around Dwight, but Rainn Wilson squashed that one and said no, it wasn’t happening, and was never planned to happen, it’s just one of those crazy internet rumours. So rest assured! And NBC has already renewed it for next season.
