Just a quick update.
*I left my job of the past 2.5yrs. I am very sad to not be with them but we are going to try to remain close. I am working for them once in a while. It was insanely hard to say goodbye to the kids. I hear they are really having trouble without me being there.
*My new job (I’m here now) is really great. I really enjoy it so far. This is my second weekend. I met the grandparents and really enjoyed them although they are a bit nutty like most grandparents are.
*I start graduate school this coming week. I’m nervous and excited.
*I have not heard from Derek since he heard his new contract options. Bet you he is choosing a state not near here so he is avoiding telling me. That’s fine. He’ll text or call when he is ready.
*I have a real date tomorrow night. He called and asked me to dinner. His name is Mike (I have a TON of Mikes in my past) but this is a Mike I’ve known for a long time. About 10yrs or so. We were never close but always had a flirty friendship when we ran into each other. Usually we bump into each other when we are dating other people. Anyway, he asked me on a date, not a "grab a bite" date. Unfortunately it is a Monday and a holiday (my schedule is hectic) so we ended up with reservations someplace less "classy" then we really wanted. It’s okay, I’m just looking forward to painting my toes, putting on make-up and enjoying a meal with him. He is always great conversation and I hate to admit it but I really like him and hope this works out. He LOVES kids, has a good job, lives alone, loves his family, is spontaneous, loving, trustworthy, etc. Good qualities. The Cons…well he lives near my parents rather than down in NYC so there is less to do there. However, my schedule is hectic but better to see him than it has been in months. If I really tried, I could see him Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, Thursdays. That’s a ton more than a few weeks ago even. It won’t be that often because I need to spend time with family, myself and my studying but it’s more than before and he is truly interested sounding. These are all good things.
*I am doing the NYC Buddy Walk (National Down Syndrome Walk) at the end of the month. Want to donate? buddywalk.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp PLEASE help. This isn’t just because…it is because my good friends have a son with DS. He is the little guy in my picture. They are an AMAZING family. Every dollar helps!! Come on guys, donate!!!
oooh! hope the date goes well! sounds like you two will have a lot to talk about! good luck with the first bit of classes and glad to hear that work is going well thus far! ALSO i wish i could donate for the walk, but i too am a BROKE college kid livin with the parents. but i hope to read about the date in ur next entry whenever possible. again g’luck with classes and the kids AND THE date!
