I see you

I wanted to share this but cannot share it with most of my "real life" friends because it would sound like I was looking for praise.

Every time the little one and I go to the park I see a man sleeping on a bench. He is the only homeless person I have noticed around this town. He never asks for money or bothers anyone. He will often throw a ball back to a child if it comes his way or move aside for a double stroller or child learning to ride their bike. He smiles and says hello if you smile at him but most people don’t look at him. In fact, my nanny friend who recentally left and I see to be the only people who ever said "Hi" to him. I’ve never seen him eating or drinking anything but water. He never has alcohol in sight or smells like he’s been drinking. I think this man is just a man that got down on his luck, made bad financial decisions etc and ended up on the park bench. Anyway, I’ve taken notice of him many times but never said anything more than a general greeting as I walk by. Today I was without the baby on my way from the bank when he was sitting up, just watching the birds and looking around. As I passed by I handed him some rolled up money. I just said my usual "Hi" and kept on walking….never looking back. He just said a simple, "thank you so much." I hope he gets something a little better than whatever he usually eats tonight. I want him to know not everyone looks past him.
