$5 for the future
Amanda came to visit this weekend. It was great to see her and have her here! Friday night we went into the city to grab dinner and go to a bar considered a “dive” bar. It was not a true dive bar by my standards but it was a pretty interesting place. We met some real characters. A great night was had by both of us and our bar tab was only $10. Excellent time and place to be female. We came home at about 5am. We slept till about 11am then got ready and went to get coffee. After the much needed caffeine we went for manicures and pedicures. That was relaxing and a good chatting time. We then went back to the city for some shopping. It was mostly walking and wandering but we each bought a few cute items, had some great sushi and saw a $5 palm reader. That’s where this story takes a turn.
I am skeptical about palm reading but my mother has a long time friend that has read my palm at least a half dozen times during my childhood. The last time she read my palm I was in high-school. She told me I was going to be in a helping profession with room for growth and change. She told me I was going to go further than I anticipated. She predicted my life to end when I was a little over 90yrs old. She said I’d have one long marriage with three children, the oldest being twins.
This palm reader was working out of her apartment. She locked her children in a room with the TV and told them to sit quiet. She took a table and chair out of a closet and started with me since I was sitting closest. I decided to “yes” her as long as I could to see what bullshit she told me. It was $5, what the hell? She began with my long life-line ending at about 92yrs old. She went on to say I was in the process of going through a change in my life that would work out nicely. She said I was coming into money. She said I was fresh from a relationship that I was not completely past although he was regretting it and wishing he could hit an undo button. She said I was starting a new relationship but being held back by the old one. I was still at the “yes” stage I believe. She then asked if I was thinking about going back, I said I could never go back. She then asked how long I was with the new guy, I said about a month. She said I needed to tell him how I felt or he wouldn’t stay around. I told her I was afraid to because he was thinking about moving to Texas again and I didn’t want to keep him here. She said he needed to hear I want to be with him or it won’t work. She said if I do this, I’ll know by Sept 18th if we will work out. That is the weekend he is supposed to know if he will see me the weekend of the 25th. His work will notify him by then if he will be traveling that weekend. She then told me I will have three children, twins and a child a few years later. I asked their sexes and she said boy/girl twins and a girl later. I told her I want boys, she said too bad basically. She then said I’d be married in the next 5yrs. She said I had changed my mind professionally and had been going towards a medical field but now was going a different direction, the right one. She also told me my sister or brother was coming to see me the week after labor day. She told me family is important to me and I want the holidays to be special and at my house. She said my family was not very loving and I crave that. She said alcoholism runs in my family and to be careful and steer clear of that issue in myself because depression can be an issue for my family as well.
It was interesting. She told me a lot of general shit, un-provable and easily accepted. However, she did give me a specific date that had meaning for Derek and I and she knew about my sister’s pending visit. Those are both true events. She also hit the nail on the head with the holiday thing. The past 5yrs or so I have hated the way holidays go and wish they were huge and loving like they use to be. I hate the rifts our extended family has now. The alcoholism is also perfect. My mother is one of six, three are alcoholics plus two of my aunt’s married alcoholics. Also, my dad was an alcoholic before he married mom and my cousin is an alcoholic. These truths stood out and made me believe most of the other shit.
Amanda’s turn was not so good. She told her she’d be about 98 when she passed away. She was also told she’d be divorced, married twice. She would not have a relationship in the rest of 2010. She needs to sleep with the guy she has gone on a date or two with because otherwise it will never go anywhere. She said Amanda was intimidating and that’s why she is single and has few friends. She said Amanda judges people by their shoes or hair or clothes and looks down on others. She said Amanda and her female relatives need to be checked for breast cancer in the next year. She said Amanda is in the wrong career and should be doing interior design (Amanda is a teacher). She basically did not give Amanda one positive thing. It was terrible. However, Amanda is intimidating because she is good at faking confidence and is not fake. She tells it like it is but I think she has style and class when doing so. She doesn’t open up and hates ignorance but is not about physical appearance really. She is single and has had trouble with guys because they feel like she isn’t interested it seems. However, she is not confident and hates trying to flirt because she doesn’t know what to say or do. She is sarcastic and super intelligent and can see through fake people and bullshit in a second. This is basically what the lady said but I see it was positive while this lady saw it as a negative. Poor Amanda. She was crushed because a stranger either read this off her hand or got this from vibes she was giving off. Either way, that is not cool. I love her at least!!
Any thoughts on psychics or palm readers?
It just makes me think of Dionne Warwick…

i think they just read the different cues or ques that you are giving them with your face. Basically they just are face readers. I don’t think that they have any ‘special’ gift. Your palm is just folded the way your hand closes. It doesn’t say anything about your future. They are just wrinkles really.
