Forgotten Girl

Shadows surround in woods so dark

every turn leads to another shadow

but it slips away and disappears

"who is out there"

but there is no answer

only the ruslting of dead leaves in the breeze

and gusts of wind

"someone is out there"

but the only response is silence

and the quickening of a frightful heartbeat

and sweat begins to pour down

the fear begins to grow

as more shadows creep on all sides

closing in

"what do you want"

feet pound down on cold wet pavement

breath escapes in tiny puffs

hair flowing wildly behind

"please, just go away"

but the shadows continue on relentless

surrounding from all sides

heartbeat racing as feet fly

until a rock ends the chase

cowering in terror

alone and afraid

"what do you want from me"

the scream echos through the night

tears stream down her face

as the shadows loom over her

the world fades to black

and she is forgotten

Good poem, though a bit sad and tragic. But then again, I can appreciate that. 🙂 Take care of yourself now.

Whoa, that was a really good poem. I write poems too, but I usually never post them on here for fear that people will take my ideas. I really like your diary, and you seem like a cool person to get to know. It it okay if I add you to my favorites list? much love, Tara
