The Sims 2 and The Library
For the past week or so, I’ve been playing the Sims 2 while on the computer. At first my mother didn’t want to get into the game, but now she’s been really playing it asking me questions and stuff.
Last Tuesday I went to the library with my mom and picked out a couple of books. I finally got a replacement card because I am tired of using the keychain library card that’s really tiny and annoying for the librarians to handle with all the keys attached to the same ring. It’s the same style as the last library card which was "Navigate the World". "Navigate The World" through books used to be the only reason I read while I was young. I wanted to know what was else out in the world beside the things that I encountered everyday.
One of the books from the library is about race in the Star Trek series. After readiing the begining, I had to get it. It started with the "In Living Color" skit called "The Wrath of Farrakhan". I remembered and loved that skit when I was younger, and it continues to make me smile occasionally. "In Living Color" is one of the best comedy shows I’ve ever seen. Too bad that Richard Gere was offended by a live skit from the show during the Super Bowl Commercial on FOX from the segment with Damon Wayans and David Alan Grier as gay movie viewers. It was implied that Richard Gere was gay, and he threatened to sue FOX. The Network had suits go to censor the show to make sure nothing like that happened again, but the censorship started to make the show horrible. They couldn’t do any of the funny things that people loved about them. They weren’t edgy anymore.
The Pleasure of My Company by Steve Martin is one of the other books I picked out at that library. I chose to start reading this one first because a) my mom wants to read it and b) it’s a short book. So far I am highly entertained by the book because I can connect to the main character who happens to be more neurotic than I am. Sometimes I wonder if Steve Martin ever had anxiety attacks or whatever the hell happens to me sometimes. While wrapped up in the book, I started to have a anxiety attack while reading the description of the attack. It took a while to get out of that state because I don’t know how to handle it. Plus it’s been a long time since I had my last major anxiety attack.
I’m saving Sophie’s Choice for last because it seems like one of the kinds of books that I can really sink my mind’s teeth in.

Edit: James Doohan, the actor who played Chief Engineer Montgomery "Scotty" Scott on Star Trek, died yesterday. I wish his family well, and he will be in my prayers tonight. He seemed like a really kind person in real life. Hopefully he was "beamed up" to Heaven!
