Weddings & Friends

We are back from the cousin’s wedding.  Wow, what an event.  It is one of the biggest weddings I have ever seen.  5 attendents, 4 ushers, flower girl, ring bearer, and over 500 guests.

The groom, Mr M’s cousin’s son, comes from a very large family.  His mom has like 8 brothers and sisters, and each of them have quite large families.

Friday night was the rehearsal dinner out at Auntie C’s house.  Grilled steaks, salads, fruit, it was yummy.  Then the "boys" light a bon fire and partied till the rooster crowed.  JD, DJ and I went to bed about midight, didn’t sleep real well, but went to bed.  MR M tried to keep up with the 20 year olds and came sloshing in around 2 AM.  Yeah, he was pretty much done for the weekend 🙂

Saturday had us up and trying to shower.  Let’s see there was M and I, DJ and JD, Auntie C and hubby, their 3 kids, one boyfriend and his son.  Cousin M from Seattle, her brother J, his wife and daughter, all of us using 3 showers, plus trying to wash towels as needed.  M couldn’t figure out why we started getting ready for a 5:00 wedding at 10:00.  Duh!  A fixed the girl’s hair and they looked so beautiful.  We went to the church an hour early to try to get good seats.  We ended up sitting behind the piano and had a good side view.  DJ took lots of pictures.  Then we all hoofed it over to the Vet’s building for a wonderful dinner (can you imagine feeding 500 people)  But they did a great job and it was very good.  Then they had a powerpoint presentation of the kids when they were young, and after they grew up it was cool, but the best part was the section on B when he was in Iraq.  It made me cry.  It was so touching.  The entire group stood and applauded him when it was done.

Well from there the "band" began.  It was a Disc Jockey and it was really enertaining.  DJ meet up with an old hockey buddy, who happened to have her cousin at the dance and she and he danced all night long.  We had to drag her home at 12:30.  Then M and I helped them clean up.  We got home about 1:30, where much to our suprise the groomsmen had all showed up and started the bon fire again.  Needless to say we did not join them this time around.

So with little sleep we came home to a lawn that was over 12 inches tall, so we mowed.  Then we went to bed.  My feet still hurt and I am very tired, but it’s Monday and off to work I go.

P’s parents were in your town this past weekend to see the play “the Sound Of Music”..they said they got hit by the worst hail storm they’d ever been in..golf ball sized hail imbedded in the windshield…I am glad we don’t get that kind of weather out here…
