Hersey Track Meet

DJ participated in her first Hersey Track meet yesterday.  She ran the 100, the 200 and did the long jump.  I didn’t get to go, but Mr M helped as a timer and said she did great.  She got second in both races, behind the same 12 yr old girl.  She competed in the 11 – 12 year old bracket.  I guess her time in the 100 was 14.8, the winner’s time was 14.6.  Close race!  I don’t know what her time in the 200 was, but she said she got tired.  NE MT wind was blowing about 40 MPH and it was raining and they ended up stopping the meet before it was over because of lightning.  But the kids had a blast.  She doesn’t get to go on to the State Hersey’s meet, but has claimed that for next year she will train hard and beat that other girl.  What she doesn’t realize is that girl will move up into the next age bracket next year! (I’m not going to tell her).  She got 2nd in the long jump too, with a jump of 6′ 1 1/2". 

Last week at school the 5th graders had a career fair.  DJ has since she was about 5 loved dolphins.  She decided a long time ago that she was going to be a marine biologist.  So naturally she did her career display on that.  She did a wonderful job and received a top 10 award from her school.
