Cleaning Up
The clean up from the storm goes on. So many people had damage. They are saying about 50 – 55 % of the homes in town had damage to roofs, windows, siding, gutters. Cars are in bad shape. Windshields broken out, of course large dents on hoods and roofs. But also came floods of water. The underpass had over 8 feet of water in it. The streets were turned to rivers. Lots of water damage in homes.
But the saddest part is the farmer’s fields. With the 8+ inches of rain we had in May, the fields were beautiful. Now they are nothing. They are absolutely just gone!
A small town 14 miles East of here got hit even worse. 90% of the homes are damaged. The trees over there look like winter. Hardly a leaf left.
The insurance people have arrived in droves. One company brought in a large bus and has set up an emergency "office".
I know that time will take care of all of this. The community is rallying together to help one another. And every one you meet asks, "what was your damage?" I feel blessed to say, only my apples are gone.
In your prayers tonight, ask for strength in recovery for my friends.
Prayers for your friends and your community. RYN: M & J plan to leave next Thurs. or Fri. They have to come home befor the next Friday for baseball. Boys go this Sunday on the plane. They plan to be around town for Homefest….
