I would say happy Halloween, but it’s almost over. Hope you all got to enjoy the day in some way.
Cross Country is over. DJ did well. She started out her first race slow, but picked up steam the rest of the season and ended with a 9th place finish in one race and personal record of 10:47 in the last race. She had a great time and loved the running. She was afraid of the distance, but bucked up and did great. She did fabulous for her first year. At the year end pizza party her coach had these words to say about her:
Coach: "I remember watching DJ run at the 6th grade cross country race, and thinking, wow, that girl can run. I sure hope she signs up for cross country next year. Well, she did sign up and at our first race she had a time of over 26 minutes, and I thought to myself, well, maybe I was wrong. (insert laughs). By the second meet she had taken over 5 minutes off of her time and although she struggled a bit with side cramps through some of the other meets, she continued to improve and placed in the top 10 once, and at the last meet placed 11th just behind one of our own 8th graders. Wow, that girl can run!"
Volleyball is over. JD did great! She improved a lot over the season and even got to serve a couple of times in matches, which is major for her.
What nice words by the coach…Since Windrunner is already taken, I’ll just have to call her DJrunner….Good Job DJ>>.
