NDE
Im going to write about this, because I find it so interesting and comforting and wonderful and scary, all rolled into one.
My family members all have had a few ‘experiences’ in their lives when it comes to death and near death experiences. Firstly there was Barry, my brother who died when he was ten. For weeks before he died he told nurses that he was going to go and play with the angels soon. He also told my mother that he wouldnt cry if she wouldn’t. You have to keep in mind that he did not know he was dying, because no one else did.
Then there is my daddy. As most of you know, my father had three brain hemmorages and then a stroke last year. He was in a coma for four weeks and now he is alive and in a wheelchair. By all accounts, he should not be alive. Most people dont survive two hemmorages, never mind three and then a stroke. We nearly lost him a few times. And now we know how close we were.
My father always told mad stories, but not like this. He told us all about his NDE with such awe and wonder that it makes me cry.
When daddy had the first hemmorage he didn’t know it. He carried on his day like any other except he had a terrible headache. He walked around with that hemmorage for three days. On the third day he called my mother and told her there was something very wrong with him and he needed her to drive him to the hospital. She drove to get him from her friends house.
While she was coming to get him, daddy was stumbling around trying to get himself together to go to the hospital. He said that he heard a noise and looked up and saw Barry in the hallway. He just saw the back of him. Barry walked around the corner. Daddy said he followed him, but he wasnt there when he got around the corner.
He told mammy this in the car and she thought he was mad.
The next thing he told us, I never thought I would hear him say. Daddy told us he remembers nothing of the coma, the ward… nothing. But, he said that he had a NDE while he was in the coma. He also stated that he was on a lot of drugs and he does not know if it was the drugs or not, but it was very, very real.
He said that he saw nothing but blackness. He then said that out of the dark there was a intense, bright light. He said that he was very calm and happy to be there. In the light he saw his mother and Barry. He said that they had a short conversation. He said that they told him to go back, it was not his time yet. They told him to look after my mother as she was a good woman. And Barry told him "If you look after her, I will look after you". He said that that was it. He came away from the light and then he said he was looking at himself on the bed below him. He described him in the ICU. He then said that he was back in his body.
I found this interesting and comforting.
Dont you?
