new monitor

bought a new monitor for my computer.

the Samsung Syncmaster 2343BWX LCD Monitor.  its very nice.  i had been looking at and saving up to buy one for some time.  my previous monitor was a 19" LCD by some off name company that i got at Costco for $275 like 5 years ago.  this one is a 23" widesreen monitor that i also got at Costco for $269 with a $70 instant rebate.  GO ME!!!

i had been looking at the 2243DX (the first two number indicate the size).  its a model down from this one, which is also $199 at several locations.  but when i saw this one for the same price, and a model higher (not sure what this one has than the DX doesn’t) i figured, why not?

i’ve noticed a few things right off the bat.  for instance, the background color to my diary is actually a gray brown, instead of a straight-up gray.  colors in general are much more vibrant when you don’t have the distortion from a monitor that can’t do higher resolutions very well.

all this time i’ve had a killer video card since i build this machine… and i had NO IDEA what it was capable until now.  needless to say, my video games look AMAZING.  not that i have any time to play them at the moment.  lol

so yeah… really got nothing else to say.

i was thinking that people who randomed into my diary to see the previous entry were probably very confused.  which reminds me of a story from Rite-Aid in Spokane.  (Keep in mind, Spokane, WA is a beautiful area… but think of it as if it were a biggish town in like… say, the middle of Iowa.)

to color in my beard i use eyebrow pencils.  it doesn’t come off on other people’s costumes, and it fills in nicely.  the downside was i had forgotten to get a pencil sharpener for my make-up kit.  if you can’t tell, there is quite a bit of area to cover in my beard (especially when they have me grow it that wide) so i go through the tip pretty quickly.  so i went to the local Rite-Aid.  i look around the make-up for about 5-7 minutes looking for an eyebrow pencil sharpener, but all i can find is the cheesy plastic one.  no go…  so i walk up to the woman that is checking in merchandise and stocking it on the shelf.

"excuse me, where are the pencil sharpeners?"
Her – *without looking up at me* "Check around Stationary."
"no, i’m sorry.  i meant the eyebrow pencil sharpeners?  i’m looking for a good metal one, and all i can find are the cheesy plastic ones."
Her – *head slowly turns to look up at me with flabbergasted face…* "Uh… um… they, are… uh, over here?" [yes, she ended her sentence with an upward inflection]

of course, this is the part where she began to shake it off and proceed to walk me over to them.  the look of bewilderment never left her face though.  lol

then i tell My Lady about this that night and she says, "Well, you could have at least told her why!"  to which i replied that i like letting people wonder.  not to mention, she now has a great story to go home and tell her friends and family.  that is unless she tells them and they all go grab there knives and pitchforks and throw me out of town (which, well, didn’t happen).

that is all.

– noah

I notice a difference in the colour with other monitors too. I just pretend everyone has the same colouring I do, so that I seem tasteful. One colour I had as a background was revolting on my bro’s puter. oh well

haha – that reminds me of a story when my husband was running sound at a regional theatre and he had to go and buy condoms every few weeks to keep the sweat off of the mic packs. He would go in there and get the economy sized-family pack – non-lubricated. The women at Walmart always gave him the evil eye. lol
