N.19 There and back again and sore as hell. *edit*

its not the flying i think that gets to me.  and i definitely can’t blame it on the time change…  it must be something about the atmosphere in each place.  and i won’t lie by saying it doesn’t trip me out that within 10 hours i was 1,900 miles away from my home and back.

i’ve always loved San Francisco.  its a beautiful city, good weather (it was a big cold, but mixed with the fog and the sun it was glorious), nice people…  i don’t think i could live there, but i know i could spend a lot of time there.

anyway, i flew down and had an audition for Houston Grand Opera’s young artist program.  i think they call it the studio program… or… i have no idea.  anyway, the audition wasn’t for the program however.  it was for another competition.  this was the preliminary, and if they like me they’ll send me on to the semi-finals Houston.  from the winners of that competition they will pick people to enter their program.  so, that’s what this audition was for, a competition.  lol

i felt it went really well.  i messed up some words on my second aria.  i’m not even sure how, i think i was a little too into the acting and actually was thinking too much about the words and messed up my muscle memory.  it was only about 3 words though, and i could see they knew i messed them up, but i didn’t make a face and i got right back on a couple words later.

it was fun, while waiting to go i saw a woman that was in the competition with me a few weeks ago.  her name is Rachel DeShon and she’s a wonderful soprano.  crazy high notes.  anyway, we had talked the day of the competition.  she’s a bit younger than me, and i think she has a great career ahead of her.  right now she’s singing with Teatro Zinzanni.  its a circus here in Seattle, and there’s another one in San Francisco.  kind of like a mini Cirque du Soleil (which she actually might be singing for Cirque next year, how exciting!).  anyway, that’s what she’s been doing and is trying to break into the opera scene.

wow, that was a long story about nothing… lol

anyway, she sang, and was leaving and then asked if i wanted to go get food.  so we ate after my audition then i went back to the airport to call my lady.

sidenote: i kind of like calling her that.  i hope people don’t find it insulting, because its said with the most love possible.

/sidenote

so i got back to airport and called her and we talked, and i was wandering around the terminal.  then i decided to get something to read (i didn’t want to practice on the way back) but couldn’t find anything for cheap enough that seemed interesting (and i couldn’t find a crossword book… DAMN YOU SUDOKU!).

i ended up getting a New York Times and walking back to the gate.  i turned the corner (still on the phone) to see that the lounge was empty!  my heart missed a beat as i face the doors to see it still open.  i walk up and ask if i’ve missed it.  the gate attendant laughed and said no, but everyone was already boarding.  it was a quick board and we still had another 30 minutes before take-off.

*clutches pearls, praying for heart to stop beating so fast*

i’m sure over the phone i probably sounded calm, but my mind was racing!  lol

that was my day yesterday.  very quick turn around.

– noah

p.s. i’m seriously thinking about getting the New York Times delievered daily.  i don’t need the Sunday paper, but the weekly would be awesome!  and if not that, maybe the Seattle Times.  *shrugs*  can’t cost that much…

p.p.s. its actually cheaper to get the New York Times than the Seattle Times.  someone explain that to me…

*edit* i found this on accident and i just had to share!  i’ve only had a flight attendant do this once in a flight.

I think calling her “my lady” sounds regal! Hope you had lots of luck in your audition/competition!

The fact that you call her “my lady” is sweet. 🙂 In fact, it’s adorable too! Is it too late to say good luck on your audition? 🙂 Very odd about the NY Times vs. Seattle Times papers… My only guess would be that the NY paper is so huge and widely circulated that maybe they don’t have to charge that much? But I could be SO very, very wrong.. lol *hugs!*

You were in the lovely Lone Star state!!! YAY YOU!! That’s funny because one of my best buddies is the Athletic Media Relations Director at U of Houston and they were up in Corvallis, OR for basketball. He was up in your stompin ground sorta.

RYN: (Yeah yeah yeah, it took me long enough!) 1)It depends, does he do that cool key trick with the lightning? 2) I’d probably fork over the money. Or steal the bar from a baby. Babies shouldn’t have mint anyways. I read that somewhere… 3)Yes. I would date V. 4) Probably a fairy or something dark and insidious. 5)PIRATES! Duh. You’re silly.
