thanksgiving stuff(ing)… hold the yams

This year’s Thanksgiving was low key. Mom and Dad decided not to travel to AA and J’s this year with J having her baby recently. There was obviously more on her mind than preparing a feast for visitors. It turned out that their church gave them a turkey and a few friends cooked a few dishes for them, so they only had to make one or two things. Meanwhile, F and I joined Mom and Dad for Thanksgiving, so it was just the four of us.

Okay, we didn’t have turkey (don’t tell anyone). We had chicken. But in all fairness, this was like Godzilla chicken. The meal was filling of course. We kept it to just five different dishes. No cranberry or stuffing though. I know, I know. Sometimes though, a change in the menu is good now and then.

The next day we didn’t do the Black Friday thing, but we did go out to see Beowulf, in fabulous 3D, no less. At first Mom thought it was a live action film until she started reading about it online. She wasn’t disappointed at all though. The film itself was great. Besides all the superb technical aspects and camera angles and so forth, it is just a well told story. Go see it in 3D if you have a chance. Plus you get those nifty glasses.

Later that night, F went back to the city. The next day I stayed home, pretty much in digestion and leftovers mode (still). And holy cow, Notre Dame actually won another game. So it was a good day after all.

Right now it is Sunday, and I just realized I should get cracking on my xmas list. I could only think of one thing to get, for F.

I find it amusing that F is the only one in the family that doesn’t have a digital camera yet – he is, after all, the one who went to film school.

I guess later today I will attempt to put up a tree and some decorations, since I don’t plan on going out to shop. Yes, it is an artificial tree – I apologize to the purists… however, we are moving towards a more green society and this fake tree has gotten plenty of reuse. At least that’s my excuse.

Meanwhile, the niece is doing fine. She went home from the hospital last week. AA and J are happy. No word on big brother T’s thoughts.
