Business as usual

There’s something a little depressing inside me when I walk out of the door after work and see it’s dark outside.  It surprises me every time, and even if the work day was productive (and most of them are) I still feel as if I’ve missed the day.  But I know I really haven’t.  Driving home in the dark just sucks.

That’s exactly what happened today.  I knew I had a late meeting and planned on getting into the office earlier but I had such sweet dreams this morning I couldn’t bare getting up any earlier than necessary.  I really do love my job.  I think I’m in a good place right now and I’m excited to see what I can continue to achieve if I just stick with it.  I think the casino business is a great place to work in.  And as far as our guests go, well all things are fine in moderation.

I had a good vision of myself the other day.  We just moved offices on my floor and now I have a new neighbor.  He is the Director of Racing Operations, started as the Racing Administrator.  I am now the Slot Administrator and am beginning to wonder/plan what it will take to get me how I can get to the next level.  Time, I know, is a big ingredient.  We shall see.

My feet hurt.  It rained today and as always when it rains, I wore my high heeled boots.  I forgot today was the first drop off of our annual food drive and then I found myself out in the rain, in heels, unloading boxes of food at the local pantry.  Phew.  I kicked off those things off underneath my desk as soon as I got back to my office.

I’m starting a new book tonight and can’t wait to get into it.  Good night!

I like that it gets dark earlier JUST because that means Jon comes home from work earlier! I didn’t know you worked in a casino! Sounds kind of cool!

u won’t have to worry much about it not being dark for a while after daylight saving tonight.
