I stare at the sky and it leaves me blind
College is out for a week until summer term starts. The first summer term. I have only one class this term, macroeconomics, and 2 for the next summer term, humanities and statistics. I find it somewhat irritating that my college doesn’t offer anything really useful to my degree in the summer, only gen eds. But then, my college is barely hanging on to its accredation, so I’m not surprised.
I went to college graduation today. It was inspiring and annoying all at once. My college graduated 6 B.S. degrees in chemistry and about 70 degrees in criminal justice. So many people are ignoring what college is really for, the arts. Knowledge for the sake of knowledge. Instead, opting for these stupid degrees that gurantee them a job working for border patrol or the state cops.
Graduating high school was not an accomplishment. It was easy, I never worked a day for that diploma. I sat around and waited for 12 years and they gave it to me. A bachelor’s, well, that requires some work. But I’m really looking forward to getting my PhD. Dr. looks good in front of any name, and I think that’s a degree to be proud of.
Maybe that’s just me. Whatever.
