Yesterday

This all happened yesterday, I just didn’t want to re-type it, so here you go (this is from my family blog, so I self censor even more than here, lol):

Went to McDonald’s today. What an adventure THAT turned out to be! We went to Wal Mart first, to pick up snacks, and get cash so I could gas up the van, which went fine. Then we got to McDonald’s, went inside, had our usual 20 piece chicken nugget meal that’s under 8 dollars to feed the four of us (Bec’s at her mom’s.). I gave Alex one chicken nugget, and for not having teeth, that kid went to TOWN on that nugget. Wish I had pictures of it, because she was doing a good job eating that up. Well, we’d probably been there an hour and a half, two hours, and Alex was FUSSY. So I told Sydni to go out to the van, which was parked right outside and get a bottle, so we could rinse it out and put water in it… I hadn’t brought any formula, and I wanted to scrap, so I was hoping that she’d take a bottle of water, settle down and maybe sleep for awhile. So Syd looked in my purse… no keys. Baby bag… no keys. Jacket was in the van… oh no. So I called Jerry, and told him the keys were locked in the van… what should we do? We only have the van nowadays, and usually, that’s just fine. We haven’t really NEEDED a second vehicle in a long time. So he decided to catch the bus. Well, it’s Sunday, so the buses are running on a limited schedule, so the line that goes pretty close to our house wasn’t running, so they sent him a few blocks away…but he’d just missed that bus, and it’d be an hour before the next bus came by. So an hour passes, and here comes the bus. On the OTHER side of the street! So he missed that bus. He thought he would go home and try to get a cab or something, but decided by the time he did that, he could just ride the bus. So he waited another hour for the next bus, and caught that one. However, he had to transfer, but the bus he had to transfer to wouldn’t wait for him, because they were running 7 minutes behind. The bus he was on was literally right behind the bus he needed to transfer to, but they wouldn’t wait! So he had to ride the bus he was on the long way around, and get dropped off down the street instead of right in front of McDonald’s (which is where the bus he wanted to transfer to would have put him! Grrr…) So I’d called him around 2:30ish, because I looked at my phone at 2:43, and thought, it’s going to be 6 before he gets here… and it was right around 6 when he got there. I think we ended up being at McDonald’s 5 or 6 hours. Thankfully, the girls found someone very nice to play with the last hour and half or so, or it would have been hell for us all, because Syd had wanted to go home at 2, and complained to me that no one would play with her. She was miserable. I bought ice cream, just to make them feel better. I’d been thinking abou it anyway, and it seemed like the right thing to do to bring spirits up. So we got an ice cream cone, and a hot fudge sundae, Syd and Sammi shared the cone, Breezy and I shared the sundae, though Sammi’s such a little hog, that she took some of our sundae too… and at the age of 2, she doesn’t "get it" so we let her. Anyway, I got pictures at McDonald’s. Oh, and when Jerry got there, he unlocked the van, to find the keys in the ignition and the radio on! Thankfully, it started right up. I had forgotten when I was getting out of the van that I’d left the radio on so we could listen to a good song.
Then we had to go pick up Bec from Jane’s, so we stopped at Golden Corral on the way back, which just opened in September. It was crowded, but oh the food… yum. We’ve missed them since they closed the one in Stockton down… the next closest one was Tracy, and that took an hour and a half to get to. Much too far to drive, so we hadn’t been in quite awhile. I was amazed at how crowded they were at 7 on a Sunday. It was a nice break. Bec had already eaten, so she was feeding Alex, and Alex was eating broccoli like there was NOTHING as good as broccoli, and Bec says "Give me the camera!" Now, she hadn’t gone to McDonald’s with us, and I didn’t have my purse, but I stood up, yanked the camera out of my pocket and handed it to her! LOL, when I asked if they were surprised I had the camera in my pocket, Jerry said no, he wasn’t. Oh… I am SUCH a scrapbooker! Oh man. Well, mom can tell you that I asked for my first camera when I was 10. I am amazed it took me as long to discover scrapbooking as it did, because I have ALWAYS loved to take pictures. I wish I could have afforded it more when I was younger. Digital cameras have certainly liberated me. Now if ONLY I could find the battery charger to my Canon, I’d be set. It’s around here somewhere, and one of these days I’ll get motivated to find it. For now, the Olympus is fine, and certainly handier to take places.

Every time I look at a picture of Alex, I just marvel that she has blue eyes. They’re SO gorgeous, I love them. HOW did a get a kid with blue eyes? I love it. The pictures posted in backwards order, and I have NO idea how to "fix" them, so pretty much the picture of Becca is one of the last pics I took, and the final picture of Alex is one of the first pictures I took today. Go figure, I don’t know how to work blogger very well yet. And I probably won’t exactly have time to figure it out… unless it bugs me a whole lot, then I might FIND the time. I guess we’ll see.
