Went to the snow today
A good time was had by all. Though our snow trips go something like this:
Head out early in the morning, like get up at 8ish, head out at 9-ish
Spend 2 hours getting there, especially with all the stops that have to happen
Spend ONE HOUR playing in the snow.
Leave
Spend 2 hours getting back, especially with all the stops that have to happen.
So yea, an hour, that’s all we spent. They made snowmen, I took pictures. We didn’t have a sled, because of course, the girls had broken it using it for it’s intended purpose… playing in the dirt (note the sarcasm…) Though Jerry didn’t want to get stuck up there, as it was actively snowing, and quite slick, so we didn’t make it to the Big Trees (National Park), he turned us around and we played in a field that wouldn’t have worked for sledding anyway. Though the snow was just GREAT for snowmen. We never had snow like that growing up, because Colorado is so arid, there’s not enough moisture in the snow to get it to pack together for a snowman. But the snow today was very wet, just perfect. I just wish we could have made it to the Big Trees.
Alex turned 8 months, I can barely believe it. I added a breastfeeding ticker, cause I’m so proud of myself for keeping this going despite all the work it’s been to do it. I could have given up at any time, and I didn’t. There are days when I wonder why, but I know what she and I are getting out of it greatly outweighs the frustration. At this point, I’m actually kind of hoping to go two years. I guess we’ll see.
I ended up heading to bed at 8, but the baby woke up at 9, fed her for an hour, put her back to bed at 10, and then Jerry came to bed at 1, woke us both up, so I fed her, realized that she desperatly needed changing, so took her downstairs, changed her, gave her a breastmilk bottle, and put her back to bed at 2, where she cooed for a while, then finally went back to sleep. I came down to pump, and of course, got caught up here, so I need to go back to bed, but I’m going to spend a few more minutes pumping and reading, then I’ll go back.
And with that, I am out of here. We had a really good day. It was short, but nice.
Eight months of breast feeding is awesome. I’m proud of you, and sorry you didn’t make it to big tree, but snowmen are awesome.
