Priting Pictures

I’ve been avoiding this for ages.  Way back when, I put a bunch of pictures in picture frames, and they are now hanging on the wall.  Well, I need to do it again, and well, I haven’t done it since 2002, so there are just thousands of pictures to choose from.  I’m trying to do it SOMEWHAT chronologically, but it’s hard, very hard.  I’ve ben known to take the occasional "professional" picture, in that *I* take them against a solid color backdrop, usually with Becca helping, however, we haven’t done that in quite awhile.  And we haven’t taken a family picture since Alex was born and even that was rather disorganized and you need two pictures to get the whole scene.  Not that I’m even up to when Alex was born.  I’ve only got pictures from just after Shabree was born, I think.  So I will probably want to begin there… but I do have years to span, so I’ve got to consider that as well.  Jerry and I both want our walls, especially up the stairs, covered in pictures, so it may not matter, because we can buy plenty of picture frames to do that with, and I can have years and years of pictures on the walls.  That’s a LOT of pictures though.  It’s so hard for me to choose too.  I have all these ideas on what photos I want to put in the frames.  Plus, I’ve got to import some of the "photo rolls " (folders) into my photo printing program.  I never really got around to doing that when I last did a reinstall.  I hadn’t really needed to, I was "done" wtih most of the pictures from those years.  I never deleted them off my computer, because the old photos barely take any room up, and I’m paranoid that the discs I have them on are going to fail or something.  I used to keep them on multiple hard drives, multiple computers, the whole works!  Now I have them on CDs, and I try every so often to mail off CDs to family members so they’ll have them too, in case anything should ever happen.  I need to do that.  I’ve been putting them up in my family blog so that family will have SOME pictures.  I post new ones nearly every day.  Between here and there, I feel like I’m just writing all day long.  I should get to some writing that’s paid already.

I am going to wrap this up.  I’ve had two blogs going at once, a baby who won’t sleep, the picture project, and I just need to whittle down what I’m doing…

I put mine on flash drives at the end of every year. Or I was until I got so behind in my scrapbooking. I still need to scrap 2007 and now 2008, then I’ll move my current pix to flash drive. I did actually order some prints last week for my walls and scrapbooks so I am beginning to get started again. I understand your delay and frustration with picking pix. I used to order ALL my pix but have decided from now on I am only ordering the best ones for my scrapbooks and leaving the rest for the flashdrive storage. No point in having all these extra pix left over.

RYN: Yeah, I can see how giving them up is going to be really hard. So far we haven’t taken any longterm foster kids of our own so I haven’t really experienced that yet. Bonding with this baby for the past two weeks and sending her back to her original foster mom is going to be tough enough. I don’t know how I’ll handle giving one back that’s been here for months and is going back to an abusive parent. We do it for the kids though, to help them in some way and I just have to keep that in mind. The other foster kids that we’ve done respite for, my sister has adopted or is going to adopt so we still see them. Then there was one little girl that went to other relatives and one girl that went back to mom. The one that went back to mom, I still see and talk with via txt as she is the same age as KC so they became friends. So far things are good for her although it was her second removal so I just keep waiting for the rug to be pulled out from under her again. 🙁
