Nice day today

Mmmm, the sun was shining, the weather was so mild, and the kids got their chores done, so we went to the park!  It was a LOT of fun.  I just wish I’d realized there was a camera in the van, because I got on the tire swing, with Shabree pushing me around in it, and I just had a BLAST.  Then I got off, and she got on, and I pushed her.  I also swung with Alex in a "handicapped" swing, swung Sammi in both the regular and baby swings.  At some point I said I was hungry, so Jerry and I decided to go to the nearest store for snacks.  Well, we found sushi on clearance, 6 pieces for 2 dollars, so we bought 5 packs.  The rice was getting a little off, but other than that, it was GOOD.  Shabree is a soy sauce FIEND.  She took half my soy sauce and all of hers!  Little piglet… and she IS a piglet.  We came home about 4:30 or so, and Jerry made a pot roast for us, that he’d had a rub put on at the store.  OH!  At the grocery store we went to today, I found tri-tip for 2.77 a pound in the bulk, untrimmed packs…well, the 4 dollar a pound tri-tip had a Pappy’s rub on it, so I decided to see if the store could put some of that on the bulk pack, and sure enough, he was, and he did!   So cool what they can do at the butcher’s, if you just ask.  The sweet thing about buying untrimmed, is that it’s the FAT that gives meat it’s flavor, so you can cook it, then remove the fat.  Removing the fat before cooking removes an awful lot of flavor (which may have been why they put the rub on it.)  I love meat sales.  2.77 is a LITTLE more than I like to pay, but for tri-tip, I won’t complain!  I’m not seeing any more 2.00 a pound meat sales, and even hamburger is up to 2.00 a pound!  Grrr on that!

It was definitely a nice day.  As part of my 101 in 1001, I put down learn 10 new recipes, which is actually a very conservative number.  I’d actually like to learn more like 40 or 50 new recipes in the next 2 and a half years.  But… I’ll start with 10 and when I reach that number, I’ll re-evaluate.

Okay, Alex is awake, and needing feeding.
