Two young people were recovering from injuries after they apparently were shot at a party in Elk Grove Friday night.
Elk Grove police responding to a reported shooting in the area of Timkir Way and Frank Gregg Way at about 11:45 p.m. found Laquesha Smith, 18, had been wounded in the buttocks.
At about the same time, officers learned that paramedics were treating a 17-year-old female at a gas station at Elk Grove Boulevard and Auto Center Drive. She indicated she had been in the area of the party when she was shot in the back.
Officers say hey believe the shootings occurred after a group of people arrived at the party in the 10200 block of Frank Gregg Way and argued with another group. The altercation escalated, and two young men pulled out handguns and fired.
The first shooting suspect is described as an African American, about 19 years old, 5-feet, 7-inches tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket and dark baggy pants. The second armed suspect was described only as an African American about the same age who was wearing dark clothing.
The suspects sped away in an unspecified vehicle.
Authorities continue to investigate.

I’m glad you are all ok and stuff…It’s scary when that happens close to your neighborhood. Girl, I went to JoAnn tonight. Aye, Dios Mio. There were such good sales. I guess we’re going to go ahead and invest in the Cricut Expressions. E keeps telling me to go ahead and get it and I keep talking myself out of it.
