Food as gifts
Went to Walmart tonight, looking for candy for Sydni’s class…their 1st grade "buddy class" is doing a gingerbread house, so they needed "colorful" candy. Oh… Sydni… she wanted to give her teacher EVERYTHING on the list. She wanted graham crackers, and dots, and skittles, and this, and that, and the other thing…. sigh. I had bought her skittles, and rainbow colored Twlzzlers, and told her to take Dots from the Halloween candy bag (they’re still good!), and one thing I forget… and she STILL wanted graham crackers. I told her the candy was PLENTY. Good grief, let someone else buy a LITTLE something for the gingerbread house. Oh, the other thing was little candy canes, 100 of them (we took some when we got home… WHY do they need 100 candy canes for two classes totalling 40 kids?)
So we went looking down the Christmas gift food aisle, and I found all kinds of goodies. Got Becca her Summer sausage gift pack she wanted (yes, she WANTED that… she got VERY excited when I said we could do them as presents. "Food? You can buy me food!" She’s getting heavy… seriously. She’s got a sugar tooth to match my own.) I got Jerry a 4 pack of hot sauces…he should enjoy that. I got all the girls Lifesavers books…which I LOVED getting as a child. I ALMOST bought one for me, but decided against it. I was going to get Jerry a fajita kit, but it had a cast iron skillet in it, so would not ring up as food. I also wanted to get Shabree an M&M fortune telling toy, but it wouldn’t ring up as food either. That’s all right. Then, I let Sydni buy Shabree a 3 dollar book. I think that’s it. Oh… I went to use the bathroom, and of course, Sammi wanted to use the potty too, so I took off her diaper and put her on it. Thankfully I had fresh diapers in my purse, because she needed one… but I thought, if we’re really going to get serious about this, she needs pull ups. So I bought pull ups. She was pretty excited about those! She went on the potty about 4 times after she got home. She never went on the potty, opting instead for her pull up, but it’s good that she’s excited about trying. And she IS excited about trying.
I’ve got quite a list going… in my head and on paper, for when we have money. I am HOPING that’ll be any day now, but it’s always hard to tell, and I never REALLY get my hopes up. The way I see it though, SOMETHING’S gotta happen soon. So there are a couple of things which look very promising. I am… cautiously optimistic. I just want it to happen BEFORE Christmas. I will have such a spending spree, lol. I might have to arrange to get a cabin up in the snow as well, but it’s a bit late for booking something like that. I’m hoping… We can always do it next year. Becca’s being in middle school kind of messes things up. The other girls are on the same track, but Bec’s on traditional, so the other girls have January off, but not Becca. So we COULD have done it in Jan, except for Bec’s schedule… listen to me. LOL… I’m counting the money in my head. Well, I’m at least SPENDING the money in my head. Spending it, giving it away, just enjoying it.
I told Jerry that I want to invite Pat and Wanda over for dinner. He said we should do that. So I will. I don’t know what we should cook, but it’s been awhile since we’ve seen them, and I’ve really been wanting to do some entertaining, and having people over and cooking for them IS something we can do. Jerry said while I was at it, could I give them the new number? I said, That would explain a LOT. So I will have to do that. We saw Todd and Angel last week, we saw Ron and Sharyn on Thanksgiving, which was nice, so we’ve seen quite a few of our friends lately… but I really miss Pat and Wanda a lot. So it’s time. We’ll have to clean the house again… but it’s really just messy, not dirty like it was. It’ll be easy to get back in order.
Well, Alex is crying on the couch… I’m not sure if she EVER lays there quietly if someone isn’t there entertaining her… I gotta admit, that one’s getting a bit old. It’s not like I let her lay there for hours, and like she spends a ton of time alone. She just can’t stand ANY alone time whatsoever. Sometimes, if you just sit her on the couch next to you, she lays there and cries. She HAS to be held. Yea… OLD. I do everything I can to be a good mom… I think everyone knows that. But I do have 4 other children…well, 3 who REALLY need me… and I can’t be holding her constantly. It’s also impeding her growth a bit, I suspect. It’s just really hard not to give into a crying baby. Sigh. So, anyway, I think I said everything I wanted to say. It’s a good thing I type something like 60 words a minute. It helps when I want to say what I want to say fast. I think I type faster, it’s just that I do make a fair amount of mistakes, and I’m always back spacing.
It’s 1 a.m. and I am so NOT ready for bed… maybe I’ll download more Christmas digi scrap items I don’t need, will probably never use, not to mention OPEN, but can’t help downloading. Now… is that the definition of ADDICTION, or WHAT? It’s all so… pretty, and Christmasy, and I LOVE it. I can’t help it… I have over 12 GB of Christmas digi scrap. You know how I know that? I just burned the 3rd DVD of JUST Christmas digi scrap stuff yesterday to clear some room from my hard drive. I definitely need a new computer maxed out with hard drive space (um… that’s 4 terabytes, the last time I looked, so it may be more now… I think it may be a bit of overkill, esp considering I don’t earn any money using my computer!)
Gotta go.
*edit*
Oh… she fell asleep… oh, yea, that’s good.
So, the other day, I was telling Jerry about the woman (on the net) who decorates something like 10 trees in her house. She begins in October, setting them up, decorating them. She’s huge into Victorian Christmas, etc. However, this is what caught my attention… one of her trees is ALL Disney! The whole tree is decorated in DIsney ornaments. I am IN LOVE with this idea. I want a Disney tree! I asked Jerry what he thought of that, and he thought it sounded cool!
Whoo… isn’t my husband the greatest? God, I love him. I know some husbands who would ridicule, who would say that was a terrible idea, who would simply say, no (freaking) way. My husband thinks it sounds neat. YEA! I just love him. He was always totally like Well, if we have the money… why not? on pretty much any idea I ever had. He’s sweet like that. That’s part of what’s made this time easier, because I know once it’s over, he’s not going to care if I go a bit nuts with the shopping… so long as we have the money. He’s a good guy.
Well… I hear her again, must have woken up… so I shall skeedaddle.
~Happy Holidays~

I hope that it all pans out for you, seriously. I think my Alex is going to be the same way. IF we have the money, he’s not going to care that I spend it. Granted, I say that now because we don’t have any money… but if we had the money, he’s not going to care… Its what is so great about him. I love him.

Dude… I could always use a buddy!! LOL… the bad thing is, I was hoping that there would be $$ so that I could join this gym not too far from the house that had a child-check in but it’ll be like… January before I have the $$ and about that time everyone does that gym thing, so I’m going to wait until February and hope I have the $$. Until then, I just need to get motivated, though I doubt that more than walking will happen before Alex goes to AIT.
