DisASTER!
Jerry and I each had an appointment this morning, his from 10-12, mine at 11. So we packed up the car, took our books to do our school work, and of course, it didn’t go as planned, because my girls don’t have the capacity to work with distractions. I guess I don’t know too many kids who can work with tons of distractions, but… yea, they barely got anything done at all. Syd reads at a snail, tortoise, pick your SLOW animal’s pace, so it really holds up her literature lessons. She’s been at it for nearly 3 hours, and still has 2 pages of reading to go. Same story yesterday. I told her she has to read the next lesson tonight, so she’s ready for the rest of the lesson. Basically, she needs to read the next day’s story the night before, so she can take as much time as she needs. But I must say… this is ridiculous, however, there isn’t much I can do about it, except try to organize her, and my, time better so this isn’t a problem. Anyway… Shabree is going to need the next grade’s math, SOON. She’s blowing through the lessons in her books, I’ve started having her just do the assessments, but I can tell, looking at the back of the book, that she can already DO this stuff. Heck, I’ve had her doing multiplication since LAST year, and she caught on QUICK. She’s too smart for this math, and complains that this is all stuff she did last year. Even if she didn’t do it last year, she catches on so quickly to what she needs to do that she STILL blows through the assignments and assessments. I’m going to run her through as much of the book as possible, and try to get her the 3rd grade math in the next month or less so she’s not bored to death with what she’s doing. It’s not much of a challenge.
Later…
Okay… I am FRUSTRATED with these kids. 4:30, and the only, ONLY kid who is done with her schoolwork is Shabree. Syd still has Math, History, and has to finish up Literature and Spelling. UGH. I am hoping to catch a second wind, because I am exhausted, and fed up.
Later….
Had dinner… spaghetti. Good stuff. The kids discovered pumpkins growing in the back yard. That was like… WOW! We have PUMPKINS! So they are busy putting miracle gro on them, and making sure they have water, and are pulling weeds…whole nine yards. Now, THAT is WOW. Next year… we definitely grow a garden. Our yard is so big, it’s perfect for it. I should have done it this year. It’ll be a good science "experiment" for next year. I think it’s too late to start anything this year… well, maybe some "Fall" fruits or veggies. I’ll have to look into it.
Wow… 7 already. I’m going to have to have Syd do school tomorrow. She simply didn’t finish everything up today, and will have to make things up over the weekend. Darn. I need a break too. Well, not much choice. And Shabree wants to go back to Galt to read to the dog, so we’ll do that in the morning as well. But, I will try to get more sleep tonight so I’m not as tired tomorrow. I’ll have to be up by 9 though in any case.
Well… time to go I guess. I never did work out the other night, and I barely worked out yesterday. It is TIME to get back onto the horse, so to speak, and start working hard to lose weight again. Nearly a week off is too much time, but my weight didn’t go up, and I think I needed the break anyway…didn’t hurt anything in any case. It’s helpful to maintain and know what that feels like. LOL, it feels like I am getting enough to eat! Heh.
Sounds like a busy busy day. Try to get a lil rest this weekend.
