We have potatoes… I can make you vodka.
The other day, I think Monday, Jake and I went to the grocery store. This in itself was weird and confused us both, we never go there in the evening unless it is a Friday, so we both kept thinking and saying "I can’t believe it’s already Friday!" …yes we are silly.
I needed biscuits (sorry, cookies…) for a pie crust, so we went down the one aisle we rarely venture down. It’s all biscuits and coffee beans, things we don’t buy generally. There was a tiny little spot that I will now have to check every single time we go there. They have AUSTRALIAN candy bars and a few kinds of biscuits and some other things I don’t care about, like tea. I think it was Aussie/British stuff mixed together but oh, it was so fantastic to see. I kept pointing to stuff and asking Jake if he had tried it before. Like those rectangular bikkies with the jam and then the little marshmallows (like… 6 or 8?) on top of that? They exist here in our tiny town. Makes no sense, but hey, that’s kinda cool. I couldn’t find any timtams though, even though I’ve seen them at that store before. Maybe I’ll have to go for a walk down the street in the other direction once the snow/ice has melted and go visit the pepperidge farm store. I want timtams.
Speaking of ice, we walked to the post office this afternoon. Because of the few days of above freezing, the snow looks all jagged and the path had this layer of ice with moving water underneath. It was freaky, every time the ice cracked under my steps (which was not every step), I expected to fall, rather than have my foot be half an inch lower than it was, if that.
We went to the post office because there was a package from Mum waiting for me, and I wanted Jake to carry it because I don’t really have good skills when it comes to walking on ice yet. I got the package slip out of the PO box and we went to the counter where our friendly post office guy had the package sitting waiting on the counter for us. Normally when he sees us he gets the package and doesn’t have to ask our PO #, but this time… he must’ve grabbed the package before he saw that I had a package slip. Which is kinda cool. I love living in a small town, it means people know us! 2 of the 5 people at the post office know our PO#… the baggers at the grocery store next door always leave our lane when we are buying stuff because we never want a bag… it’s just cool. Saves speaking.
Hmm… what else has been going on… oh yeah! I mentioned that we made chili on Sunday. That was dinner Monday night, and then there was one more serving left. When Jake came home Tuesday lunch, I mentioned that I had been hoping he would have pea soup because then I could have that for dinner and he could have chili. Barb occasionally makes pea soup downstairs, and it is tasty, so every time she makes it Jake sneaks a cup of the stuff for me. Once Jake went back to work, I could smell pea soup but I thought I was just imagining. Imagine my surprise when Jake comes home at the end of the day with soup for me! Turns out Barb made some while Jake was on his break. Mmm… I love magical soup.
I still hurt from playing in the snow on Sunday. Well, my wrist still hurts from it. It’s weird, I must have fallen on it or something. I can’t remember doing anything but it’s been hurting whenever I’ve done stuff ever since. Typing is stuff.
That’s about all the excitement going on here. Jake has an MRI on Tuesday, so that’s gonna be fun. I know how to get to New Haven but we have to go to a different place than normal so that’s going to confuse me. Glad I have a fauxmer to direct me. Fingers crossed the stuff in Jake’s brain has shrunk in the last 2 years. I know it hasn’t grown, so it will be good no matter what, but if it has shrunk (or even better, disappeared) that would be great.
I don’t know why I find this odd… but I got a DVD that I have been waiting for for years as a gift a month ago, and I haven’t watched it yet. Heh. I really should do that.
It will take a week but Ill wait for that Vodka, You dont get hit on by elderly women everyday you know…

We have a place here that sells all kinds of stuff from around the world. I’ll check for timtams next time we go there. I managed to horribly ruin the lamingtons again today. *sigh*

I hope your wrist gets better soon. Last year your dad and I were struggling to walk slowly across ice in Cardiff and locals were walking past quite normally. Made us look weird. Good luck for Tuesday. Hope fauxmer knows how to get there ok.

Your status made me laugh. Just as hard as last night when I watched it on TBBT 🙂

RYN: My cake ended up more like a giant sugar cookie than a cake. And I think my sauce was too thin.
