Wandering tiny one

Such a nice weekend.

Saturday morning we got up earlyish and ran a few errands. Went to Walt’s so Jake could get a shave and haircut… that took an hour and a half. So many people and Ed wasn’t there so we were all waiting on Walt. Ash had fun, especially once she got her own chair. She got many compliments on her behaviour. After the barber, we went to Kmart where we got, amongst other things, an electric kettle. Jake is overjoyed at having a simple way to heat up water. We also grocery shopped, and that combined with Kmart made for an expensive morning.

We went to the post office on the way home, and when I got back to the car, Ash was asleep. She didn’t wake up on the minute-long drive home, or when I opened the back door, so I sat next to her and she napped in the car for half an hour. That was kind of fun, Jake took everything upstairs, unpacked and put it all away. I sat in the sunshine with a cool breeze and emailed my mum.

Ash went to bed 15 minutes early, and she was out like a light! I wish it was that easy every night.

Today I got to sleep in a bit, until Ash ran in and whinged next to the bed for me to pick her up. We didn’t have anything to do today, so we lazed. It was decent out (50F/10C) and sunny so we went for a walk. Ash kind of suggested it. We walked just past the post office, almost to the church. Ash started walking back and forth there, and eventually sat in the grass and played there for a while. She walked all the way back home and into the store, but then wanted to be held. We just let her dictate where we were going. She crossed the road at a little crossing near the post office. She held my hand (didn’t want to also hold Jake’s) and she didn’t dawdle so we yayed and clapped when we got to the other side. She seemed proud of herself. (I got a video of her walking around, will post it another day… Wednesday maybe.)

All that exercise really tuckered her out. She fell asleep on my lap for an hour and a half. I had to eat dinner on the couch with a baby on me, that brought back memories. She ate all her dinner and half a yogurt once she woke up. I was so surprised when Jake told me that she gobbled up the cheese, she usually feeds it to me.

Of course the late nap combined with the time change last night meant bedtime took FOREVER tonight. I gave up after an hour. Jake spent more than half hour before she was asleep. Hopefully we can get this working properly tomorrow.

I really should go to bed. I am going to try and force myself to get up at 7 on weekdays. Coffee no longer affects Ash through my milk and it works on me so I can use that as a tool to help me get up. The problem is I wake up stiff and achey because of not being able to sleep in whatever position I want, so I keep staying in bed after Ash and Jake get up. Must not do that tomorrow!

This just proves how soft I am as an Australian. 10C? Nice out? I consider that to be very very cold indeed! 😛

I agree, 10C is a good temperature for going for a walk. I hope Ashley soon settles in to the new times.
