Tomorrow’s just another decade

I love snow. I love watching it fall from the sky. Soft fluffy frozen water? So awesome.
I love walking in snow, softly crunching my way through. Especially when it is fresh snow, and the only footprints to exist are mine.
I love the way the world seems to stop when it snows. Everything is quieter, nicer… the world just seems to be a happier place.
I love getting covered in snowflakes.

I wrote the above this morning. I would have posted it then, but I couldn’t be bothered uploading the pictures.

Jake and I started 2009 in Australia. Since 8am our time, it has been 2010 back home. So today has just been bonus hours for us. Lovely bonus hours.

Today has been lazy. Jake worked a ‘half day’, so instead of coming home at 4:30 he came home at 3. I don’t quite get that, but ah well. When he came home it was just to change his shirt and grab me so we could go back to his place of work (downstairs) to the staff christmas party.

Very lovely time. We got a hot cocoa kit (well, Jake did… but it’s a thing for two so I got it too bammit!) and some candy canes that I started devouring straight away. One had a hole all the way through it, so I bit off both ends and was using it like an air-straw. Would have drunk something with it but I had no beverage at this point.

There was (almost disgusting, because it was store-bought and I really don’t handle american store bought stuff well) pizza to be had, and people talking and laughing. Russ (Jake’s boss, our landlord) kept grabbing our hands and saying lovely things. At one point he was whispering things about Jake in my ear, about how awesome he is (coz he totally is) but I couldn’t focus on the nice things being said about my husband because he had pulled my head into his armpit so he could talk into my ear. Thankfully that was more funny than gross.

Before the party, I was preparing to decorate the little muffins I made yesterday. So after the party, there was a bowl of completely set icing sitting on the table. Which was awesome, because 10 seconds in the microwave and it was useable again. And almost as soon as it was put onto the muffins, it set again! Woo! No dripping!

Cherry flavoured nerds are playing the role of cherries.

Oh, they are so good. I’m afraid they will be all eaten by Sunday. Doesn’t matter, I plan on making more anyway. At least tonight they should be safe. We had the final leftovers of christmas dinner tonight, and that includes the apple crumble. Mmm… slices of apples that have been hanging out in sugar for a week. They are so… so good.

I’ve really enjoyed doing DePhoMo this year. Pictures make every entry seem more interesting!

I wish you all a marvellously happy and joyful new year.
