Time to fly
I don’t know how it has been a week and a half since I wrote. I don’t know why, but I just don’t seem to have any time these days, and what little time I do have, other things need to be done. Like laundry (which I’ve started doing during my shower to try and save time). Because it’s been so long, I have to rely on daily photos to tell me what we’ve done.
One day last week, Ashley and I went through all her clothes of her current sizes, working out what fits, what is too small… we had so much left that I could then get rid of the butt-ugly/stained clothes we have received as hand-me-downs from Katrina. Above is all Ashley’s clothes-choices AFTER we went through them all. Yikes. Such a pity, so much cute that she won’t have time to wear it all.
Ash has realised how fun standing is. She leans, but she’s not being held up… too fast. She’s not 6 months yet.
She had her fifth food – avocado. I saw them at the store when I rushed to get bread on Monday, and I thought she might like. I was right. I only got pictures of it on my phone, but she would take the spoon from me and eat all the yummy green stuff, then I’d reload the spoon and she’d eat more. I’m glad she’s like her Daddy, liking lots of stuff.
Lisa and I had lunch downstairs yesterday, and Ashley sat in the big-girl high chair there for the first time. She rocked it, of course. She sat there the whole time, chewing on the packets of marmalade.
Speaking of Lisa, she came here Tuesday and left Wednesday after lunch. For 24 hours it was like we had a nanny, I only had to feed Ash and I had time to DO THINGS. It was WONDERFUL. In the afternoon I made chicken chili, roast capsicum soup, and beans & cornbread. I wanted to make more, but I didn’t have enough time, pots, or willingness to stand in the hot kitchen for more than 3 hours.
This morning I had time to fold the laundry (Lisa took it with her, we’re going to visit on Saturday and we were going to do laundry then, but now we just have to pick it up as it has already been cleaned! Yay!! Best mother in law EVER) and back up files on my external harddrive.
A long time ago (at least a month ago?) Barb got Ashley a cute baby pool. Today was her first time in it, because it has been TOO HOT to want to go outside. Ashley loved it, as expected. She had her first big-girl bath about a week ago (rather than a tub with a built in reclining seat, she now has a tub that is just a small version of a normal tub) and she loved playing with her toys. Today, she had a little too much fun with her toys, and fell face-first in the water. She’s good and doesn’t mind her face getting wet, and I got her up pretty quickly (I was actually making a video at the time, so glad the camera didn’t drop in the water, but also super-impressed that I still caught her. Mum-powers!) so it was all good. Barb is awesome for getting the pool. Once Ash was done, she got wrapped up in the bath robe from Russ, so we then had to go into the restaurant to show Russ how Ashley looks in her robe. I got DROWNED, her swim diaper was dripping all over me.
In the last day or so, Ashley has become really physically tiring to entertain. Faces alone don’t work so much anymore. She now loves being ‘thrown’ around, I pretend to be a swing while standing by the bed, she loves the top part where she floats for a millisecond. She also loves going KABOOM! where I hold her hands and pull her up like a starfish while loudly KABOOMing. She loves flying about. The least energetic activity is sitting her on the bed, laying on the floor and popping up BOO!
Speaking of… she’s getting bored of her daddy. Better go make her smile with flying.
Aww I LOVE your family pool picture!!! I can’t wait to have mine! Being a mom looks awesome!

RYN: GAR! My Target never has anything good! Maybe I’ll hit a Target in MN and they’ll have some. Even our Babies R Us doesn’t have squat in the way of hats with wide brims.

Stop it. That hat on that cute bald head with those cheeks is just too much. Ashley, I demand you stop being so ridiculously adorable!! ~L
