The tale of Insta-fort

For weeks, or months (I forget which), I’ve been desperately wanting to watch tv in bed. We have one tv, and the way the cable man set it up, it is pretty much impossible to move it from the little corner of the lounge room that it lives in. Our couch is awesome, but compared to the bed, it sucks. A lot.

So today, I moved the bed into the lounge room. And the metal base frame/boxsprings, but that was the easy part. The mattress was the main bitch. Silly king.

Somehow I stood the mattress upright, pushed it through the doorframe seperating the rooms (so grateful for wooden floors, made my task a LOT easier) and got it over to rest against the back of the couch while I got the rest of the bits. Mattress gave up and folded over the back of the couch, which was pushed against the desk to make room for the bed. Insta-fort! So then I played in the fort for a while, crawling through to the only way into the kitchen/bathroom, reading favourites, playing games on facebook. Made the bed-moving take a lot longer, but it was fun. And comfortable. Oh, so amazingly comfy. Yet squishy. If Jake could have fit, I would have left it until he came home.

So now there is a bed in the living room, and the bedroom is amazingly bare and empty and echo-y and amusing.

How’s your day going/been?

RYN: Duckie and I shared a single for like a week once when I visited him before we lived together. I couldn’t imagine doing that for 8 months. I’d probably have gone for a king, too! We have a full (double) now. It’s okay, but something bigger would be nice.

You are quite hilarious!!!

I wish I had a king, looks so inviting!

ryn: Ooo 🙂 Yeah, though the 2nd one was almost turned off because folks knew I had no interest in watching but I figured keep it on as I was already half way through. The first one can be hilarious if you watch it with the right people. I kept laughing when I watched the first one.

Yay forts! I adore the shot from INSIDE the fort… it’s very “you are there”. Yikes, your bedroom looks downright CREEPY all empty like that! *shivers* 🙂 ~Shady

*random tangent* We once made a ‘couch’ out of two single-sized beds (they were the kind that folded in half for storage and we’d scored them for $15 at Goodwill) and we just used one frame with the mattress on it and the other mattress behind it so it made the ‘back’ of the couch. Uber-comfy, didn’t take up much space, and we always had spare beds handy for company. (We just had to drag the otherframe out temporarily.) 🙂 ~Shady

Huzzah for Insta-fort!

i think this is one of the only titles of yours i’ve ever read that’s had something to do with the actual entry! hehehe.
