The madness of marshmallows
2 exciting images to start of the entry. Our haul from last week – Mum wanted a photo so there it is! The second photo… that is our back room at the moment. If you click the image you’ll see what it did by itself. This giant hole was the work of Russ and Mike yesterday. They were going to let it dry and come fix it tomorrow, but I imagine it will be much later now. It rained a lot today so that whole area has been steadily dripping.
This week is spring-cleaning-before-spring-hits week. You wouldn’t know it by looking around this place, but I kind of hoard stuff. I am FANTASTIC at making things fit into whatever space though, so it wasn’t noticeable to anyone but me. (My ability to make stuff fit certainly came in handy when we lived with Matt & Lisa – they were always buying loads of groceries and stuffing the fridge and freezer full, and then I had to find space for Jake’s and my tiny piles of perishable foodstuffs each week. I always succeeded because I am awesome.)
So on Monday, I tackled the… entrance closet? I don’t know what you’d call it. We keep our coats in it, and it is right next to the front door… that we never use. That thing was full of product boxes (wii, wii fit, my old cell phone, my new cell phone, etc…) as well as 4 old pillows and a whole bunch of other crap. And some stuff to keep. So I kept the giant foldup table, the 2 guitar cases, the massive bag of books, and put all the miscellaneous junk into one of our huge suitcases… and now there is so much room in there! The coats have room to hang happily, not just get sort of placed on top of the pile. I also cleaned up the back room, almost emptied it out (seeing as that was our storage-of-junk room).
Tuesday I started in the bedroom. Our closets have lots of empty space in the shelf above the clothes now. The giant bag of clothes in Jake’s closet is now in another bag behind me that we are going to take to Goodwill on the weekend. I think I did a bunch little drawers here and there. Ooh! And I joined Freecycle and got rid of a gaming chair that Jake got years ago but was too big for. The lady who came and picked it up said I was making a little boy very happy, so that made me happy (and made Jake happy to hear later). It is SO GOOD to get rid of that thing, it’s just been sitting in it’s box since he got it because… it’s really for kids. And Jake is nowhere near kid-sized.
Today I… oh yeah. Today Jake and I went through all the junk in the… big tall set of drawers with a long standing cupboard attached to the side. Not quite a tallboy, but I don’t know what else it could be called. Jake had a lot of random junk in that, pretty much the only stuff in there that was mine was wedding related things. We have possibly 100 napkins/serviettes with ‘Sarah & Jake’ written on them, from our wedding. Why do we need that many? What are we ever going to do with them? I can’t throw them out though…
We did get rid of a lot of stuff. Jake took the trash out today, finally (the dumpster had been full since the weekend so all my efforts of junk-removal was sitting in the doorway waiting to leave), and everything is lovely and such now. I think I’m done with junk-removal now, just have to deep clean the whole place tomorrow and then Friday is clean out the junk on the computer (which is even worse than the closets were… so many pointless files…) and then I shall be done and all shall be lovely.
I’d say you should come see the place and marvel at my hard work but 1. you wouldn’t notice, and 2. I’d probably eat you. I’m so SO hungry. I’m going to have a milo as soon as I’m done writing this entry, and if that doesn’t make me not hungry then I’m going to the store for a tasty turkey blt wrap with cranberry mayo. CRANBERRY MAYO! (sorry, had to shout that, my friend Amrai is always amazed at the existence of such a tasty pink spread.) Hmm, actually I think the half-full giant bag of skittles I just devoured cured me of my incessant hungries. I didn’t eat them all… Jake ate the green ones. Green candy is evil. Lime is a disgusting flavour.

I remember the first time you rambled about hating green candy sitting on our couch in Woodbury, I laughed out loud because it was really the first time you rambled and it was about green candy. Love that
