Thanks for your patienace

It is ridiculously hot today. Even inside, which I remember used to always be freaky-cold, but it can only get 10 degrees cooler than outside. I do believe it got to 41 today (that would be 106F I think) which is just stupid. Silly summer being hot. Hopefully Dad goes to bed at a decent time tonight so our bedroom door can be open (his reading light shines right into our room because it gets hot and stuffy in there with the door shut.

I can hear Mum talking to her Mum on the phone. Last time we came to visit (2 years ago) I made calendars for EVERYONE, with photos of flowers and beautiful things around where we live in CT. This year I made one for me, one for Mum, and one for Nanna. Yvonne (Mum’s sister) said how much she loved it when I made the calendar, so I wish I had made one for her too. And then when we went to Christine’s place, on the inside of the toilet door were all the photos from the calendar. She must have enjoyed it too, to display the pictures in a place where you need to look at something pretty. I have to remember this for next time.

Ashley walks a lot this days. If she is holding our hands she will TAKE OFF, but she does walk here and there by herself. Whenever I get the camera out, however, she takes 3 steps and falls down. Every time. No matter. I’m looking forward to her confidently walking around, but it is cute for her to hold one of my fingers and just walk alongside me.

Her new ‘words’ are "hi pete" (to my dad, who has always been sad that I called him Peter instead of Dad when I was growing up)… and she said "Who’s that" to Mum the other day. We always ask her that whenever we see someone, so to her it is probably just how you greet someone.

I did lots of shopping online yesterday and so much of it has already said it has shipped so we will have stuff to pick up from the post office when we get home! Such a pity none of it is for me.

I’m still working on that ridiculously long 100 in 1001 list, I’m up to the 70s. I doubt I will finish it by the 16th (when I have decided it starts) so one of the things is actually "finish writing this list".

I don’t have much else to say. Heat melts my brain. Probably doesn’t help that I eat like shit when it is hot. I drank a LOT of coffee milk. I ate a ridiculous (word of the day?) amount of chocolate. I (with help from Jake, Natey and Dad) finished a massive box of whitman’s sampler we got for christmas. Then Jake and I went to watch tv with Matty in his room and he shared his box of chocolates with us (which was much more varied, with coffee and orange ones mmmm) and then when we came back to the lounge room Dad offered us some of his Roses chocolates which I of course accepted because those have mint ones unlike Matty’s box and I love mint with chocolate yum yum.

Currently trying to organise something with Jenn. I messaged her in the early afternoon but she didn’t respond until Ashley was in bed so I may have to stay up late to work this out. It is stupid how little I have seen of her in the weeks we have been here. I saw Ellen more and we were in the same country for 9 days (although she lives 3 minutes from here, compared to Jenn’s 30)

Title: A sign we saw somewhere between here and Nanna’s place. Such a silly typo.

Reading about the coffee milk made me think of Anchorman quotes. ‘It’s so damn hot…milk was a bad choice’. Second time today. I saw a guy walking home from the milkbar drinking ice coffee too. It’s 41 degrees! Sillyness.

^ I thought the same thing. When do you guys head back home? There’s a great playground near here that I think Ashley will enjoy (it has a climby caterpillar thing) and it’d be cool to have some shenanigans, if you/I have time. 🙂

ryn: Any not-sweltering day next week from Tuesday (inclusive) onwards is perfect. I’ll leave it up to you guys, ’cause you guys have time constraints whereas I’m a freelancing hobo :p

Also, has Ashley seen ducks and/or geese before? I can store up some bread for her to feed the ones at the park, if you like. They’re very tame. There were teeeeeeeny ducklings and goslings when I was last there, but that was in September I believe, so she’ll miss out on those. But she’s too little to care anyway lol

HA! I did the same thing with Anchorman! Lee Mee xXx

OK, so pretty much everyone who read this thought of the same Anchorman/milk reference… I’m enjoying being somewhere that is not stupidly hot. LA is a pleasant 18-20 degrees for the most part. Portland and Seattle were pretty darn cold, but I think I prefer 4 degrees to 40. *nods* *HUGS*

ryn: Meeting at the park is probably easiest. Not too sure on landmarks to meet at though. There’s a war memorial thing, or a small amphitheatre, or a rotunda. (I’d say “meet by the playground” but there are like 5 of them) I have no phone credit at the moment, so won’t be able to call or text, but I’ll just make sure I get there early just in case XD What time suits you guys best? It’s going to still be pretty hot (close to 30).

ryn: Caulfield racecourse is a block from my place. If you like we can just meet here? 🙂

ryn: Driving is pretty straight-forward, but I totally understand. So the rotunda at… whatever time you choose. If you type “Caulfield Park” into google maps it brings it up (unlike most parks which have not-so-usefully-obvious names). The rotunda is, if I recall correctly, somewhere near the end of the path that looks like an animal neck (sticking up to the left).

I thought our aircon coped remarkably well with the heat yesterday. The family room and kitchen don’t have enough vents, and coupled with the stupid thing that lets the heat down from the roof-space above the freezer and the large window area, it can’t stay cool. So letting that get hot kept the rest of the house reasonable. I didn’t think of Anchorman – have no idea what everyone is thinkingabout.

ryn: 11am is perfect! See you then! 😀 Oh. Duh. I should probably give you my number in case you guys end up delayed or whatever. *facepalm* 0487591354
