Skin smash WHY?!
Oops, a week? I have a good excuse! Usually I write every 3-4 days so that would have been Saturday night but… my poor baby had a fever Saturday night so she needed me by her side. Poor little one. Her doctor had warned us that 10 days after getting the MMR shot she might get a fever. Ashley has ALWAYS done what her doctor tells her to (we need to turn her head to the other side? Ash does it for us! She needs to eat more solid food? BAM! She needs to learn about cutlery… another bam!) so of course 10 days later she got a fever. She would sleep for 30-60 minutes at a time, with a boob in her mouth, but then she’d wake up and start crying. Tylenol and a cool washcloth just above the top of her head helped her and by about 1 I think she slept for a bit longer each time… that was a fun night.
She is up to 45 words, and that is only the words she says properly, not things like ‘mon’ for monkey and ‘chh’ for chewy (teething ring). Chh is the hardest one for me because she points to the fridge, but she is often lazy about saying ‘cheese’ and says ‘ch’ and also points to the fridge. Thankfully she tells me yes and no so I can ask questions if I don’t understand straight away. Today her words sounded so… mature. Less like a baby trying to make words and more like a little kid talking. She’s just… amazing.
Since the fever, Ash has been eating less solid food. She seems to be getting her appetite back but she still doesn’t eat as much as she was. She breastfeeds a lot though, so she is staying fed and happy. Yay for functional boobs!
On Sunday there was a parade through town because of memorial day on Monday. It was smack bang in the middle of nap time, but Ash had decided to nap early and nap short. I found out about the parade when we went to the window after she woke up and I saw people starting to gather on the sides of the street. We went out to the front of the building so we could watch the parade with Barb and Kerry and Jess. Barb bought Ash an inflatable spongebob, which Ash quite likes (she calls him Bob). There was a Segway but the person on it wasn’t in costume like previous years. There was a cannon but I missed it somehow. Other than that, it was pretty uneventful. We went into the restaurant afterwards and hung out for a while which Ash ADORED. And then we went for a nice long walk because the weather was perfect exercise weather (too cold for sitting watching a parade though!)
I thought I had a lot more to say but I guess I don’t. Maybe that’s why I haven’t written. Oh well. Jake gave me the ‘skin smash’ part of my title, or at least I think he did, we are lip-reading communicating, not risking making noise because then I’ll get called back to the bedroom… although it is cooler in there… stupid humid weather.
Oh poor little mite xx

She is only a couple of months older than my nephew, and he hardly says anything – it’s crazy how many words she knows!
