Shiny flower smile babe.

Ashley and I had a SUPER FUN day today. It is also Jake’s and my 6th wedding anniversary, which just made it even better.

Ashley woke up every 3 hours last night, which is actually pretty good, considering her pattern of late. I think she slept with me for an hour or two before waking time, but I don’t remember. I hardly wake up for feedings, the only reason I really know they happened is I write in my phone whenever I feed her and for how long.

I don’t know what we did for the morning time, I think probably played on the floor, pulling toys out of the toy chest and rolling the ball back and forth between us.

Oh, I got the baby gate up yesterday. Stupid thing has a MASSIVE foot pedal to open it so I have to take the pedal off in order to shut the door. And of course, that door NEEDS to be shut, it’s like our inside front door. The back room is part of our apartment but I consider it to be like an apartment complex hallway. So yeah, have to remove the pedal. Stupid gate. Jake can’t work it out which means I have to get up early enough to put the pedal on so he can get out of the apartment. Considering just taking the damn thing down. Anyhoot!

After lunch, Ashley and I drove over to the local playground (also known as the park, or the hollow. I’ll probably use all those words to describe it at some point) which is kinda just around the corner. I would have walked but to get there is either a super steep hill (hard to walk up/down, can’t imagine pushing a stroller as well!) or walking along the side of a windy road. And then once you get there, the entrance driveway bit has no sidewalk so you have to walk on the road. Stupid. So we drove the 40 seconds. We looked a trees, played on the swing (oh man she was TINY in the swing. I haven’t seen those baby swings built like that before, but…. wow. Tiny.), watched the wind blow leaves around, walked between some trees a bit, and then headed home. It felt like 5 minutes but it could have been 45. Ashley was clearly worn out, we had a nice long nap when we got home.

Not today, just crazy adorable. I didn’t know she was tired, I thought she was hungry, and then she just stopped moving and started snoring lightly.

For dinner, we went to the Italian place down the road. We were going to just get a pizza but then we decided to eat there so we got more grownup type meals – I had chicken parmagiana and Jake had grilled pork chops (I keep picking pork meals for him lately). We even split some tiramisu for dessert. Mmm.  Ashley behaved the whole time, because she is awesome. And we were home before 6!
Once home, Ashley was showing signs of hunger so I took my Mum’s advice and fed her real food. She had chosen earlier in the day that she wanted peas, so she ate peas. She ate the entire jar of peas. 4oz. Last time she got food she ate half the jar and I thought that was impressive! I mean, sure, she gooped a bit onto the tray so she could splash it at us/the wall, but she ate most of it. And then had a bath, where she got to splash MORE.

She doesn’t really seem to know that jarred food and milk are both food, so after her bath she was acting starving as though I had never fed her. So we started the bedtime routine a little early, and she was in bed by 8. Normally we don’t start the routine until 8, and she’s in her crib by 8:30-8:45. I’m hoping she sleeps well with her pea-filled belly.

happy anniversary!

Happy anniversary!!! A foot pedal seems weird. Would Ashley be able to lean on it to open the gate? Can the gate open both ways? Can it be left open outwards at night so Jake can leave without having to play with the gate and then you only have to put the pedal on when you get up? Same for when you go shopping? That pea stuff looks the same colour as the giraffe on the high chair. I hope Ashley slept better. *giant hugs*
