I feel like, other than writing entries, I have barely been on OD all month. I’m such a slacker. But then, there is a very good reason, and that is that I am busy having fun with my family. Mostly Natey, because he has been here the most. Plus, he’s me, so we like the same things.
Like how Jake is my brainmate, Natey and I share thoughts. I almost always know how he is going to respond to something, because it is exactly how I would respond to something. It’s like hanging out with myself, only not creepy sounding.
I don’t remember what happened on Wednesday. It was Natey’s last day of work, so we… ooh, Jake and I went and got delicious baked good treats for breakfast for us, as well as Dad. Mmm, coffee scroll. Did we watch the Dexter season finale that day as well? Maybe. It was good.
Thursday evening, we went to Noble House for my birthday dinner. My birthday was at the start of November, but I wasn’t here then. So we made the delicious chinese food at the nice restaurant my birthday dinner. We would have gone anyway, but it is nice to have an excuse.
I had garlic prawns for entree for the first time in a very long time. It was pretty tasty. I can’t remember the last time I had a prawn. Mmm. I usually have spicy calamari but we got the bigger plate of that as a main so I had to pick something different. Mains (that I ate) were spicy calamari and cantonese beef. Delicious, sweet beef.
While we were waiting for our dessert (banana fritters YUM!) I got bored so I started mirroring Dad’s actions, as he was sitting opposite me. Natey picked up on what I was doing (or I told him, I forget) and he told Claire, and soon they were copying the people they were sitting opposite of on the round table (Jake and Mum respectively). I told Jake what was going on, and Mum worked it out pretty quickly, but Dad took a long time to work it out. He realised something was suspect because I was laughing way too much. The kind of laugh I can’t stop that results in crying eyes. It always feels great to laugh like that, even though it filled my already raw lungs with laugh-mucus. (My lungs are raw-ish from all the sneezing and coughing I’ve been doing lately. I’m allergic to Australia, in case you didn’t know. It’s a lot of fun. I’m sure the up and down weather isn’t helping anything. It is mid December and we were wearing long sleeve clothes out and about today)
Today, we needed to go shopping for some christmas presents for people, so Natey, Jake and I went to Doncaster. We needed to go to JB HiFi for Dad’s present, and to look for a game for me. We found the dvds, but failed on the game. Natey did find a few things that he wanted though. Right across from that store was EB Games where they actually had the game I was looking for. Finally. No other store had it, and we have looked a fair few places. But this is another thing that I know nothing about, because Mum and Dad are going to be giving me that for Christmas. So I don’t know what it is. Even though I found it, bought it and wrapped it.
After successfully getting everything we needed, we went to TGIs for lunch. I had the delicious turkey sandwich you see in the picture above. It claimed to be a reuben but there was too many things wrong with it. Coleslaw instead of saurkraut. Ever so barely toasted bread. And the turkey and coleslaw were COLD. This is meant to be a TOASTED sandwich. It was still very very tasty, but it was not a reuben. After the meal, I stuck with my old TGIs tradition and made a little something out of my scraps of food.
This evening mum made delicious veggie pasties for dinner. I’m looking forward to eating another tomorrow. It has been quite a while since I made those – the recipe usually makes at least 8 pasties, and due to the size that usually means that for Jake and I, unless we have them over a weekend, that is dinner for 4 nights. So I don’t make them often, or I would get sick of them.
We are going to Adelaide on Tuesday, I do believe. I thought we were going on Monday but I have been corrected by a Natey. Which means Monday is fun baking and packing day. I need to make brownies for the road trip (maybe something else, but I don’t think so right now…) as well as prepare and freeze the sweet potato pie filling (although that may be done Sunday, or even tomorrow, so it properly freezes) so I don’t have to try and make anything at Nanna’s. Which reminds me – get the C temps for the cooking. We also have to go shopping so Jake can have something he gets for christmas from my parents. Which will probably result in Natey and I getting more things, as is always the way when you go shopping for gifts for someone else.
It is after midnight and I am exhausted. I had to write this before bed though, so that Natey can have something exciting to read the next time he logs into OD to check. He really needs to note me more.
Title.
ryn: I think it’s the neon icing that got me. Donuts here are boring compared to those. :o) ~jo
