Rainbow alphabet and no more drips!
I’ve been doing my 100 in 1001 list for 6 months now. 14 things completed, lots of things half done or at least working on/planning. So that’s pretty good.
Ashley’s newest thing is walking backwards and saying "backwards". She then will either say "hat" or "Jackson", so maybe she thinks she is moonwalking? I think it is amazing that she can walk backwards and not run into anything. She also likes walking around really fast while looking at me rather than in front of her and she knows when to stop. She has great spatial skills.
This morning kinda sucked, at least in the beginning. Our shower has been dripping (although really, it was pretty much running, constant flow of water) for ages and Russ and Mike came up to check it out last Thursday I think. Maybe Wednesday. Either way, they needed to go by a washer and were going to come back, but they never did. This morning while I was eating my breakfast, Jake came up to tell me they were going to shut our water off because our bathroom is right above the kitchen and there was a drip that was hitting the cooks. Russ and Mike only show up during nap time, and so that meant I had probably 5 hours to have fun without water. Which meant no cleaning (because I would have to wash my hands), no dish washing, no coffee and not much water drinking so I wouldn’t have to constantly run downstairs to pee, no going to the post office (because I would have to pee and wash my hands and drink lots of water afterwards which would lead to more peeing…) … basically I couldn’t do anything that I needed or wanted to do. The lack of coffee really sucks, it kind of acts as a mild anti-depressant for me so I could summon energy to move around but I don’t see the point and instead sit/lay on the couch and stare at the wall. At about 10, there is a knock on the door, and a strange guy on the other side of the door. He is a plumber! An actual plumber! We have lived here for more than 5 years, and have had many issues with the bathroom, and this is the first time a plumber has been hired. YAY! The guy was GREAT. He spoke to me, explained what he needed to do, kept saying "I’ll be right back" when he walked out… all things Russ and Mike rarely do (when they leave after doing things, I never know if they will be back because they don’t bother to say goodbye or anything *eye roll*). He also kept telling me what a crappy job Russ and Mike have done previously, which is so true. At lunch time, he had to go but he apologized because the shower was still running. He left his tools and said he’d be back later. He came back during nap time and knocked but then came right in and worked as quietly as possible with the bathroom door closed because he knew Ashley was having a nap. He finished at about 4:30, and in that time he had replaced what looked like most of the pipes and stuff. New knobs, new tub spout, the shower doesn’t drip (and is easily turned off!), the thing to flip between tub and shower WORKS (until they just blocked it off, if we showered the tub would also fill up) and it is just awesome. We thanked him profusely. It is so nice having a professional do things, rather than someone (Mike) who repeatedly admits that he has no idea when it comes to plumbing. Now I’m excited, I can clean the tub and get rid of all the black crap around the handles (I tried to keep it away but due to constant leaking water it was a losing battle). Maybe even have a bath one day. WOW.
Oops, big paragraph.
I finally ‘hung up’ the big pictures we have of Ashley. We have two 11" X 13" (I think) that have been in frames for months and months but just sort of propped up. Now they are on the wall. It looks so lovely. I’ll have to get a picture. Heh, picture of pictures. Every time I look at the wall now, I just start planning where I should put other pictures around it. Ah, I love blutack. Do I have more? Better check…
This weekend we are going to pretty much empty our back room. It is STUFFED with clothes that don’t fit us, and other things we don’t want. So I have to get it all in carryable bags and get it in the car and we’ll take it all to Goodwill. It will be nice to be able to move around freely back there again.
I swear I had something else to say, but I have forgotten what it was. Oh well. I’m going to go play Tapped Out. Have a good one!
I love that she moonwalks, of course your daughter would moonwalk!! And hurrah for a plumbing resolution. Lee Mee xXx

I still find it odd that Americans don’t seem to have discovered real blutack. The Staples ‘mounting putty’ or whatever it was called was pretty much like using chewing gum. So gross!! Yay for professional tradespeople doing professional jobs! 🙂

Whoo-hoo for a professional plumbing job. Clever Ashley for moonwalking. I’d love to see it. *giant hugs*
