…Probably misses his old glasses
We were almost an hour early this morning. Which is way better than being an hour late, but we had to wait. And waiting sucks. But waiting in a waiting room is the best kind of waiting really, because at least you are almost there.
I did like that there were clear signs right near the building we were going, for parking. And once we paid for parking, the guy wished us good luck, because it was parking specifically for immigration/court/other thing that big scary building holds. And it made me smile that after the security guard at the door went through my bag, he did it back up. My bag is rather fiddly. So that made me smile.
The interview… she was disappointed in the lack of evidence we have of us being a couple (nothing really in both our names, no kids, I don’t work… blah blah…) and she didn’t like that we didn’t have any kind of evidence about the trips we took as a couple. I wish I had thought of that at some point! Yargh. So there were a few questions, and we were out of there.
I’m rather scared. It was so quick, she didn’t really ask that much, just got confused by the little amount of stuff we could provide her… and now it is just a waiting game. If she approves me, I get a new green card in 2-3 weeks. I really really hope this works out. Everyone keeps saying that they think it will work out… I just can’t help being scared though.
Afterwards, we went to Target where we got entertaining things like napkins with turkeys on them. And some drinking glasses. Every time one of us mentions that we got new glasses, the other says my title. That’s one of our staple quotes. That and "…all of downtown smells like cookies. Wanna go smell?"
Jake also got new shoes. And because it was a bogo, I got some boots I’ve been wanting since I tried them on while looking for new shoes a few weeks ago. They are kinda like these, only better. I’m too lazy to take a picture right now.
Afterwards we headed to Chili’s for lunch. Oh man, what a food-baby that produced! There’s a deal where you can get an appetiser, two mains and a dessert for the price of the mains (that I refuse to call entrees as that is confusing as that is what appetisers are back home). We had awesome nachos, and then I had quesadillas, and we shared the most awesome brownie with a giant blob of ice cream on it. Oh man, talk about pootastic!! And it had toffee bits in it. Makes me drool just thinking about it. I think we will be going there more often. Mmm… toffee bits in a brownie of warm deliciousness.
The rest of the afternoon/evening has just been spent laying around feeling very full and watching tv. Very relaxing activities. I love my husband, and I love spending time with him. Was an awesome little mini weekend in the middle of the week. Especially good because this weekend we won’t really have all that much alone time. I’m looking forward to seeing the family peoples. And having turkey and stuffing. MMMMMMMMMMMM
crossing my fingers for you guys!

You can appeal if you get turned down, I think. I would if you could have printed out the years of OD entries regarding you two and presenting those as evidence.

we all say it’ll work out because we think it’s completely crazy and nonsense if it doesn’t. (though I’m scared too. And I can’t help it either.) mmm….turkey day is looming. I forgot! oooh pumpkin pie making this week for me then. Chili’s sounds super awesome and like our ole TGI’s excursions. LOL @ bogo. I worked it out, after staring at it

totally wanna go smell

hopefully she approves you! did she give any indication as to how long it’ll be before you know? stupid waiting

not sure how you working would give evidence of you being a couple! i don’t know, this whole process just seems rather unfair. so, what, you have to procreate and buy a house by the age of 25 just to prove something? that’s dumb. 🙁

Do you know, I think it’s a good thing. I bet the people that go in with “fake” claims, you know who are not genuinely married and in love have BILLIONS of photos and souveniers and all kinds of crap, total overkill and I’m sure the people who don’t live their marriage collecting these things because they don’t have to justify that they’re genuinely married and in love will be commended for being… normal!
