One thing keeps bugging me… pie.
The other day we bought a cheap pack of toys for the cats. They had been playing with balls of al foil but these toys have been way more entertaining, especially for Grace. There is a little heart shaped mouse (well, it was a mouse… before she ate off the eyes and wings… I don’t know why a mouse had wings, but it did) that she plays with for ages. We have wood floors so she’s often sliding around and smashing into things, or she is batting it in the air to the point where she is almost standing up. (She stood up the other day, just to look at something. Dad and I both got quite weirded out by that, but it was hilarious)
On Thursday, Dad and I headed over to Costco. He wanted to go there and I needed to go there, so it worked out well. We wandered around looking at all the tvs and testing out all the incredibly comfortable recliners before grabbing cereal-type items and leaving. We went to the mall on the way home, where we both got a new pair of shoes. I got some nice black and white shapeups. They were the one and only walking/running type shoe that didn’t have mesh around the toes that was also in my size. Hopefully that means they will last a lot longer than my previous pair of shoes that has holes above the big toes and a big burst along the side.
For Dad’s last dinner here, we went to Senor Panchos for a delicious mexican meal. I had a strawberry slushie for a beverage and it was so very very tasty. I must remember to order that next time. Mmm.
Friday was the day Dad left. We had been alerted that due to it being a holiday, there would be loads of traffic between here and JFK airport. We left half hour early just in case, but I was expecting the trip to only take 2 hours. Which it did. We were there rather early (which is always better than being late), so we sat in the ‘arrival hall’, Jake and I had a tasty beverage, and then Dad went through the security gates, past where we were allowed. We were home before he would have even boarded, even though we got slightly lost for a little while.
The GPS confuses me sometimes. It says "right turn ahead" and then starts in with "in 800 yards, turn right" and then just "turn right" …so if I’m not paying close attention, I turn at the "right turn ahead" which is what happened. The reason I wasn’t paying attention, I was enjoying listening to my cds in the car. Turns out the player isn’t broken, it just was too cold when we had previously tried to make it work. Either that or we were only testing with 2 of the cds in the car which don’t work anoymore. Either way, yay, don’t have to listen to the radio!! We didn’t notice that I had taken a wrong turn until we got to a toll booth… and we were well past the tolls at Whitestone bridge. So we had to go through Mamaroneck (I love that name) but it was only a slight detour.
I could tell the cats really missed Dad when we got home. Which makes sense, they got here only a few days before he did so he must’ve seemed like a normal part of this environment. They took a few days to adjust, was rather cute.
On Saturday, all I wanted to do was sleep. We had to do laundry (which we could have done on easter sunday, because the laundromat is awesome and is always open) and grocery shop (which may not have been open on sunday…) so I couldn’t sleep. So instead after doing our chores, we went to Barnes & Noble and had lunch at the Starbucks that is attached. I wanted a ham and cheese croissant (something I woke up craving for some reason) but they didn’t have that so we had a …turkey and cheese panini? Kinda close. Super tasty. Mmm, sandwich.
Sunday… I don’t remember. I think I stayed trapped under kitties on the couch for quite a lot of time.
And today… today I haven’t really done anything.
Grace lost her wingless mouse under something. Must go find.
it must have been tough saying goodbye to your dad 🙁 but excellent news that you weren’t hammered with terrible traffic.

I was told about the cat thinking it was a meerkat and standing up, and then standing up holding on to something. How cute!

Our younger cat, Buddy, has done the standing up thing before and I always call him my little prairie dog. lol. It’s so cute when he does it.

Oh kitties, they is so funny! Mine do the weirdest shit sometimes. Yesterday Pokey crawled under Dexter’s raised food dish trying to ‘hide’ from the dogs and got himself all caught up in it. Yeah, because a metal frame beneath a dog’s food and water bowls is an excellent place to hide from said dog! ~jo
