Of all flavours, why this one?

You know that slice of cake I posted a picture of last week? I mean… 2 entries ago? Umm…. this. Yeah, that. I’m eating that right now. Not the exact same slice, but it’s the same stuff. My strawberry wasn’t a monster either, just a regular sized piece of red fruit that is tasty. I made it into a strawberry fan and placed it on top of my cake when we were at the restaurant still, while waiting for everyone else to finish their sweets. I love playing with my food when I’m done eating it, but I think this was the first time I tried to make it pretty AND edible.

So, yes. This weekend has been a long one spent mostly out of the house. Yesterday was the regular, every-third-week mass attack of errands. Although really it’s only every 6th week that it is THAT massive an attack. I have our errand schedule set up so we go to Jake’s barber every one weekend, the next we do laundry, and the next we do NOTHING AT ALL!! A big grocery shop is every 2 weeks, and that happened to land on yesterday-as-laundry-day. So that was fun. We also went to CostCo where the most exciting thing we got is a new mop (it’s like a swiffer thing, but it’s microfiber instead… so that is kinda exciting I guess) and went to Target for the joy of exchanging broken merchandise. At the end of the day, we had $2. But that doesn’t include the tax check we got in the mail and deposited yesterday, so I guess really… we came out even.

I don’t know why, but I am obsessed with reflections lately. I keep getting distracted by reflective surfaces. This is a shot of what is across the road from us. There is a well there, somewhere, maybe obscured by the street sign? Ah well. You can also marvel at the lovely redness of the building in which we dwell.

Must stop eating this cheesecake before I go insane with over feeding.

Jake’s stepsister Kristen graduated from college today. So we all met up at TGI’s afterwards for a lovely family lunch/dinner. Jake and I didn’t want to sit around waiting at home, so we went to Barnes & Noble to hang out for a while, while waiting for the call to say they were leaving. Lunch was initially suggested at about 1:30, so we were at B&N then. We walked in, and my phone went off, and I was told they were just leaving and so it would be about an hour. We sat around, looked for books, found books, got amused by amusing things like ‘the encyclopedia of secret societies’, and just generally waited. An hour later, we got another call, they had escaped the parking lot and would be there in about 45 minutes. So we waited some more, and then drove the whole… minute (maybe) to TGI’s to wait there. Stayed in the car until we spotted someone that we were meeting, and then BAM all of a sudden everyone was there at once.

I’d tell you about the meal, but I ended up getting exactly the same as we got last week, so if you really want to read about it, go back 2 entries. I’m not sure what Jake had, other than it came with sweet potato fries that were AMAZING when dipped on the sauce my chicken came in. Yum yum. Lots of talking and just general family togetherness. Was nice. At one point "this is it" started playing which surprised me. I haven’t really heard that out and about (or at home really) since about November. It was such a wow that I felt it necessary to text Amrai to let her know about it. Heh, now thinking about it, last week when we were at TGIs they also played MJ, but that was Thriller and I don’t count that as a WOW moment because thriller is always everywhere. Maybe I just think that because it is my ring tone…

There was a bunch of photos taken of the kids, with Kristen in her graduation garb, so I might post them once Matt uploads them. Maybe not, I’m sure my eyes are either closed or squinting for most of them. The sun was BRIGHT and right in my eyes while we were posing, and when we were done it looked like I was bawling they were watering so much. But, we’ll see.

I hope you have all had lovely weekends.

You keep taunting me with that cheesecake! Argh! =P I hate it when the sun is all eye-watery and wretched. It makes it hard to do just about anything.
