My shoe fits!
We did end up going out and about this morning, although it was fairly late (after 10am) which we ended up paying for.
We went to Costco (necessary trip) to trade in all our cans and bottles (we had bottles from thanksgiving last year!) and purchase things… although all I remember buying is baking soda. I love it, 13lb of baking soda for less than $6. We use a LOT of baking soda in this household and that bag lasts us about a year which rocks.
Then we went to Target, a few more exits on the highway away from home. We don’t go there very often because it is out of the way, but we felt like a shopping adventure. We did get 3 ‘exciting’ things that we have been wanting for a while, so that’s a score.
1 – many jars of tikka masala sauce. Our grocery store doesn’t stock it anymore, I can’t find it in any of the other local stores, but Target has it so YAY. 6 jars should last us a while.
2 – Jake got a new bowl for his nightly cereal. He needed one because he likes oatmeal in winter and our other cereal-size bowls are not microwaveable, and his old pyrex bowl broke a while ago. We should have bought more than one bowl, but oh well.
3 – a wall clock. I’ve been wanting one just because, but haven’t been able to find one in a design I like. This one is simple and basic and beautiful, and it cost $4! Now I have to try and get it to stick to the wall with the small piece of blutack I have left. Might have to suck it up and get a nail. Which involves buying nails, but I already have a need to go to the hardware store, so why not add one more thing I need to get from there.
We looked at toys at Target. Found a cool dump truck that Ash liked, and I was willing to buy… but it makes noise when you move it, and the trolley moving through the store counts as moving it, so the stupid thing kept making noises and scaring me! It apparently has a mute button but what is the point of paying (I assume) a few dollars extra for a noisy toy that you won’t ever use as noisy? Back to looking for a basic, non-noisy truck. We also looked at dolls, and Ash loved pointing to the babies and she kept wanting to touch them but when I asked if she wanted to take the baby home, she said no. Every time. So no toys. She did fall in love with a toy laptop ("Buttons!") and cried so much when we took it away from her. Thankfully the diaper aisle was only a few away from where we were. She loves the diaper aisle. So many boxes with pictures of babies on them! And some of the babies are "sleeps"! Oh, it is a wonderful thing for her.
There are GIANT RED BALLS on the edge of the parking lot, so I let Ash touch one of them as we were leaving. Noticed she wasn’t wearing socks. When we left home she had shoes and socks on. Her new shoes are a bit big (did I mention we bought her new shoes? Size 7! Big shoes, but room to grow) and Velcro so she can take them off easily, so when we got her out of the car at Costco she was in only socks. When we left Target, she had no socks. So, we lost socks. We did buy 2 new pairs so I guess that balances out. The lost ones were actually a bit too small.
After a whinge-fit because I wouldn’t let her play with a straw in the carseat, we went home. I think Ash slept for maybe 20 minutes absolute max, so of course, no nap at home. I tried to just feed her in bed, didn’t even mention nap, and she would roll away from me, get off the bed and go stand in the corner of the room and cry. Because we do not boob in bed unless it is nap. We boob on the couch the rest of the time. We have to go to the couch! I love that she knows that but… it would have been nice if she would have broken the rule once, but I am kind of proud of her for knowing it and sticking to it. I don’t know how she managed to stay awake until 8pm, but she did. And then she was OUT. I got free in 20 minutes. That hasn’t happened for MONTHS.
All afternoon, Ash has been running around with her raggedy-ann type doll that we call Emma. She would give Emma kisses and hugs and it was just so adorable! I wanted a video, but of course Ash was butt-naked while being so adorable so no video. Maybe tomorrow. At one point I noticed she didn’t have Emma anymore so I asked where she was. "Bed. Sleeps." Oh, so cute.
Title: Jake and I are silly, our newest silly thing is mouthing the words "my shoe fits!" in exaggerated and silly ways.
D’awww Ash! What a cutie. Glad you guys had a good outing together!

Oh, and will your clock break if it falls off with the blutack? Maybe you need a nail. I have nails with a skirt that lies flat against the wall so that half the nail is out for hanging things on.

Lily has a doll named Emma, too. She’s more of a baby doll than raggedy ann type, though.

It’s a shame nudity is so taboo. The little people seem to be at their cutest antics when naked! ~jo
